Donoho opens baseball season with 10-0 victory. Piedmont makes it three games in a row with 10 runs. Cleburne County puts up 12 runs. Munford holds off Lincoln. Anniston wins marathon against Saks. Jacksonville girls soccer scores nine goals in victory.

ANNISTON — Blake Sewell went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and he and Kai Cleckler combined to hold Faith Christian to three hits as Donoho won its baseball season opener 10-0 Monday.

Cleckler got the start, allowing two hits with three strikeouts in two innings. Sewell worked the final three innings, allowing one hit with six strikeouts.

Cleckler also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. 

Other standouts for Donoho included Marcus Lawler, who homered and drove in two runs. Richard Goad doubled and scored a run. Hayes Farrell went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Sam Montgomery was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

PIEDMONT 10, GADSDEN CITY 0: Cole Wilson, Hayes Gunn and Trevor Pike combined to throw a one-hitter, and Pike had two of Piedmont’s four RBIs.

Wilson started and worked the first three innings, allowing one hit with five strikeouts and no walks. Gunn and Pike worked an inning of relief apiece, and Pike had two strikeouts.

Pike and McClane Mohon each hit a double. Pike was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs, and Mohon was 1-for-1 with an RBI and three runs.

Wilson had Piedmont’s other RBI.

ANNISTON 20, SAKS 15: Anniston’s Dylan Goodson went 5-for-6 with for RBIs and four runs, and Deavion Adams went 5-for-5. Andrew Nelson had three RBIs, and Caleb Ackles pitched four innings with eight strikeouts. 

For Saks, Jacori Avery went 2-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and a run. Dorrien Walker went 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs. Tyler Rucker was 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs, and Jayden Woods went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 12, RANBURNE 3: Kannon Robertson went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Tigers (4-0) at the plate.

Nolen Wright went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and Nathan Adams had a double and scored two runs.

Jayson Deese, Matthew Wilson and Hunter Gore drove in a run apiece.

On the mound, Roberson and Asher Brown combined for 11 strikeouts and held Ranburne to six hits. Brown got the win in relief, working the final 4 2/3 innings with six strikeouts. Roberson started and worked 2 1/3 innings with five strikeouts.

For Ranburne, Carter Loren went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. Nate Merrill went 2-for-3 with a triple, and Trevor Heath had an RBI.

MUNFORD 4, LINCOLN 3: Munford (7-1) scored four runs in the fourth inning and withstood Lincoln’s rallies, which included two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.

B.J. Anderson had a single and two RBIs, and Braydon Nichols had a RBI. David Pettus and Lathan Stephens each had one of Munford’s three hits.

Munford’s Brody Wilson, Alex Petty and Austin Wynn combined to hold Lincoln to four hits. All three had two strikeouts apiece, and Wynn got the win in relief.

Lincoln’s Nicholas Catlett and Tucker Steward combined to hold Munford to three hits and two earned runs. Each had two strikeouts.

Griffin Wilson had a single and two RBIs, and Carson Perez drove in a run with a ground ball.

Softball

ASHVILLE 11, WEAVER 5: Alana Cooper and A Shrivinski drove in two runs apiece for Weaver. Shrivinski and Peyton Marvasty each had a double, and Marvasty had an RBI.

Soccer

JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 9, TALLADEGA 1: Lexi Page had four goals and one assist to lead Jacksonville. Willa Kate Walker added three goals and one assist.

Also scoring were Emerson Weaver with a goal and two assists and, Joeh Kim added a goal. Sarah Sloughfy and Emma Easterling also tallied one assist each.

Jacksonville’s boys lost to Talladega 2-1.
