Young’s strong outing highlights day for Piedmont softball in Hixson, Miss. Randolph County goes 4-0 at B.B. Comer. Gaither and Arnold star as Munford goes 2-1 at Cleburne County. In baseball, Jacksonville splits. Piedmont, Oxford stumble in Spring Experience.

HIXSON, Tenn. — Piedmont went 1-2 at the Hixson Wildcat Classic, beating Bledsoe (Tenn.) 3-0 and falling to Alcoa (Tenn.) 7-0 and Cherokee County 4-0 on Saturday.
Carson Young pitched a two-hitter with no walks and one strikeout against Bledsoe, and Cayla Brothers had a triple and three RBIs,
In other highlights from the day, Savannah Smith pitched a solid outing against Cherokee County, allowing six hits, one earned run and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings.
Cherokee County’s Emma Hill and Aubrey Abernathy combined to pitch a one-hitter, working three innings apiece. Both had three strikeouts.
Hill and Abby Lea each hit a double, and Lea had three RBIs.
MUNFORD GOES 2-1: Playing at Cleburne County, Munford beat Ranburne 4-0, lost to Central-Clay 5-4 and beat Cleburne County 3-0.
Emma Gaither and Madison Arnold combined for a three-hit shutout against Ranburne. Gaither struck out eight batters in four innings, and Arnold cleaned up with a strikeout in the fifth.
Addysin Britt and Tayla Marlow each had a single and two RBIs, and the Lions (15-2-1) got a double apiece from Arnold and Raleigh Dew.
Gaither pitched a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts in five innings against Cleburne County.
Marlow homered and had two RBIs, and Brooklyn Pressley hit a solo home run. Dew doubled and scored a run.
Gaither had two singles and two runs against Central-Clay, and Marlow doubled. Pressley, Britt, Dew and Ashtyn Bishop had an RBI apiece.
Central-Clay’s Jessie Hornsby tripled and drove in two runs, and Suraya Colburn went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
RANDOLPH COUNTY WINS FOUR: Playing at B.B. Comer, Randolph County beat Vincent 5-4 and 10-2, Childersburg 11-1 and B.B. Comer 7-1 to improve to 11-5-2 on the season.
Ansley Pike’s walk-off single made the difference in the opener, against Vincent and completed the Tigers’ two-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Lizzie Milam had a single, a run and two RBIs, and Gracie Huckeba went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Talee Sims had a double and two runs.
Lexi Ley pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits, four earned runs and two walks with two strikeouts.
Randolph County’s bats came alive against Childersburg. Huckeba and Milam had two RBIs apiece, and the Tigers got an RBI apiece from Kinsley Weathers, Sims, Pike and Hannah Parmer. Weathers had a triple and Sims a double.
Autumn Taylor and Gracie Robinson combined to pitch a one-hitter over three innings. Taylor struck out three batters.
Key pitched a one-hitter with four strikeouts over four innings against B.B. Comer, and Sims doubled twice with two runs and an RBI.
Macie Smith had a single and two RBIs, and Huckeba went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Weathers and Milam had an RBI apiece.
Sims went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs in the second game against Vincent, and Taylor pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and two earned runs with five strikeouts.
Weathers had a single, two runs and an RBI.
Baseball
JACKSONVILLE SPLITS: The Golden Eagles (10-11) lost to Arab 9-0 and beat Munford 7-2 at home.
Xaye Lemon had two RBIs against Munford. John Ducar and Bradyn Loggins had a single, an RBi and a run apiece, and Ryan Mitchell had an RBI.
Mitchell, Matthew Salmon and Coleman Guthrie combined to pitch a four-hitter. Mitchell had three strikeouts, and the trio gave up no earned runs.
Munford got a single and a run apiece from David Pettus and Alex Petty. Petty, Lathan Stephens and Braydon Nichols combined to allow three hits and five earned runs.
The Lions (12-5) also lost to Arab 12-4 on Saturday.
RIVERDALE (Tenn.) 6, PIEDMONT 5: Playing in the Oxford Spring Experience at Choccolocco Park, Riverdale walked it off with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Cole Austin’s RBI double tied the game in the top of the seventh, scoring Trevor Pike, who singled ahead of him.
Pike went 2-for-4, and Jonah Pike doubled with an RBI for Piedmont (11-6).
Brodie Homesley hit a double and pitched six innings, allowing seven hits, four earned runs and one walk with four strikeouts.
GROVE CITY (Ohio) 5, OXFORD 3: Forrest Heacock went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Hudson Gilman had a double. Nick Richardson singled and scored a run as Oxford dropped to 13-7.
