Alexandria baseball erupts for 18 runs. Jacksonville makes it six consecutive wins. Donoho gets fourth win in five games. Cleburne County’s Deese pitches no-hitter. Ohatchee softball gets 19th win. Weaver gets seventh win in nine game.

ALEXANDRIA — On a night when Alexandria’s softball team completed a dominant run through the Calhoun County tournament, the baseball team continued its offensive surge.

Samuel Henegar went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and four RBIs, and the Valley Cubs beat visiting Piedmont 18-0 on Friday.

Ian Cartwright went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Nic Thompson went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, and Evan Snow had a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Aiden Brunner drove in three runs, and Alexandria (18-8) pounded out 15 hits. The Valley Cubs’ have scored 46 runs dating back to a 10-6 victory over St. Paul’s Episcopal at the end of their spring-break trip, averaging 11.5 over four games.

Alexandria also got its usual strong pitching, with Bray Goode pitching a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in five innings of work.

Piedmont’s Cole Wilson and McClane Mohon each hit a double. The Bulldogs are 17-9.

JACKSONVILLE 12, PLEASANT VALLEY 5: Drake Loggins singled and drove in three runs, and Jacksonville (15-11) made it six consecutive wins.

Ryan Mitchell had a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Gavin Peeler was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kingston Peeler had a single and two RBIs.

Matthew Salmon went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Pleasant Valley (13-8) outhit Jacksonville 11-10 but had two RBIs … one each for Logan Williams and Caleb Shew. Holt Bentley went 3-for-4 and scored a run. Shew and John Garrett Bryant each had two hits.

DONOHO 5, RANBURNE 2: Blake Sewell went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, a run and two RBIs as the Falcons (9-12) made it four wins in five games.

Sam Montgomery had a single and two RBIs, and Jordan Cameron went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

Kai Cleckler got the win, allowing two hits and no earned runs with six strikeouts in four innings.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 10, HORSESHOE BEND 0: Jayson Deese pitched a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and the Tigers improved to 13-4.

Deese pitched 60 strikes in 94 pitches over seven innings. He had one walk but faced the minimum 21 batters.

Deese and Matthew Wilson each had a single and two RBIs. Kannon Robertson had two hits, including a double, with a run and RBI. Nathan Adams went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Hunter Gore had a double and two runs.

Softball

OHATCHEE 13, LINCOLN 8: Tabi Davidson and Savannah Reaves homered as Ohatchee improved to 19-5-1.

Davidson went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs, and Reaves was 2-for-4 with two runs and to RBIs.

Lexi Thomas went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Alana Fitch had three RBIs.

WEAVER 5, ASHVILLE 2: Kynlee Fulmer struck out six batters while allowing four hits in seven innings, and Weaver (8-6) made it seven wins in nine games.

Jordyn Smith had a double and two RBIs, and McKennah Homesley had a single and two RBIs. Anna Shirvinski went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.
