LINCOLN — Pressley Slaton and Khloe England pitched a combined one-hitter, and Slaton hit two of Alexandria’s three home runs in a 17-1 victory at Lincoln in Wednesday’s Class 5A, Area 10 action.
Slaton stuck out six batters and allowed no hits or runs in three innings. England pitched the final inning.
Slaton led Alexandria (24-9-1) at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs and five RBIs.
Allyssa Hunt hit Alexandria’s other homer, a three-run shot in the Valley Cubs’ 11-run fourth inning.
Clancy Bright went 4-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs, and Charlee Parris was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Brenlee Sparks went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run, and Christian Hess was 2-for-3 with four runs and an RBI.
Jill Cockrell had a single and three runs, and Briley Bright had a single, a run and an RBI.
HANDLEY 15, TALLADEGA 0: Ava Hill and Kia Brown homered as Handley (18-5) rolled to victory in Class 4A, Area 8 play.
Brown went 2-for-3 with a homer, three runs and three RBIs, and HIll was 1-for-2 with a homer, two runs and three RBIs.
Ella Hopper had a single, two runs and two RBIs, and Brynnley Lane had two RBIs.
Kamlyn Holloway went 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs and an RBI, and Tayi Goss went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Mariana Whaley had a single, two runs and an RBI, and Raquel Joiner had a single, a run and an RBI.
Whaley got the win, pitching one perfect inning with two strikeouts. Rayna Smith allowed two hits with two strikeouts in three innings.
RANDOLPH COUNTY 21, VALLEY 2: Talee Sims homered twice, and Brantlee Wortham homered as Randolph County improved to 15-7-2 with a non-area victory.
Wortham’s grand slam was part of the Tigers’ 15-run second inning and accounted for four of her team-high six RBIs on the day. She went 2-for-2 and scored four runs.
Sims went 2-for-3 with two homers, three runs and three RBIs.
Lizzie Milam went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Kinsley Weathers was 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
Gracie Huckeba went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Lexi Key had a single and RBI. Macie Smith, Ansley Pike and Madison Terrell had an RBI apiece.
Wortham pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout, and Key worked two innings with one strikeout.
