Donoho tops Pleasant Valley. Alexandria sweeps tri-match. Jacksonville sweeps St. Clair County. Oxford splits tri-match. Weaver, Pell City victorious.

PLEASANT VALLEY — Sam Wakefield had 17 kills, and Callee Taylor had 35 assists as Donoho swept Pleasant Valley 25-14, 25-18, 25-23 on Tuesday.

The match was a clash of recent-former area rivals who combined to win four state titles with two runner-up finishes since 2019.

Wakefield also had 14 digs, and Taylor added a kill and five digs.

Pleasant Valley lost middle blocker Ella Parris to what Raiders first-year coach Jennifer Mann called a lower back injury during warmups. Parris will learn the extent of the injury Wednesday.

“Looking forward to Ella’s report tomorrow and praying she is back on the court quickly!” Mann said.

ALEXANDRIA: Alexandria swept a tri-match at home, beating Oxford and White Plains. Alexandria’s top performers:

—Kylie Jeffers: five kills, two digs.

OXFORD: The Yellow Jackets split a tri-match, beating White Plains 25-14, 25-8, 25-14 and falling in five sets to Alexandria, 17-25, 34-32, 14-25, 26-24, 17-19.

JACKSONVILLE: Setter Sydney Soriano returned from an ankle injury and dished out 23 assists to go with two kills, a block and two digs as Jacksonville beat visiting St. Clair County 25-15, 25-17, 25-23.

Soriano suffered the ankle injury in the second set of Saturday’s Albertville Invitational gold-bracket final.
