Alexandria, Pleasant Valley clinch state-tourney berths. Oxford falls in five-setter in second of North Regional at Hoover.
Class 6A
OXFORD: Oxford opened North Regional play by sweeping Fort Payne 25-14, 25-11, 25-14 then fell to Hazel Green 23-25, 26-24, 14-25, 27-25, 6-15. Oxford’s top performers:

ALEXANDRIA: Alexandria beat West Morgan 3-1 then beat Madison Academy 25-18, 19-25, 25-20, 25-15 to clinch a berth in next week’s state tournament. The Valley Cubs’ top performers:

PLEASANT VALLEY: The defending state champion Raiders opened by sweeping West End-Walnut Grove 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 then beat Lexington 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 to clinch a berth in next week’s state tournament.
Pleasant Valley will play the Mars Hill-Westminster-Oak Mountain winner in tomorrow’s 12:15 p.m. regional final.
