Former Oxford standout Robertson highlights signing class of four, including three JUCO additions.

JACKSONVILLE — Former Oxford standout Sam Robertson highlights a class of four Jacksonville State baseball signees.

Jax State announced its class Tuesday, and the class includes three junior college additions and a Mississippi high school standout.

Robertson starred on Oxford’s 2023 Class 6A state-title team. He signed with and played for Auburn in 2024 but comes to Jax State through Northwest Shoals Community College.

Here’s a look at Jax State’s baseball signing class:

J.P. Abt, INF/RHP, 6-0, 180, Brandon, Miss., Hartfield Academy

Preps at Hartfield Academy in Flowood, Mississippi…coached by Justin Smith at HA…Ranked as the #2 shortstop in Mississippi by Perfect Game…elite two-way potential as a hitter and pitcher…named to the PG 2024 PG Preseason Underclassmen All American Teams as a Second Team honoree on the Southeast Region team…a 2023 PG Preseason Underclassmen All American Team honorable mention selection…named to multiple PG All-Tournament teams associated with Perfect Game.

Skyler Hutto, RHP, 6-3, 225, Trinity, Ala., Shelton State CC

Attends Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. … signed with Alabama out of West Morgan High School…posted a 3.58 ERA over 27.2 innings with 30 strikeouts in 2023… ranked the No. 3 shortstop and No. 22 overall prospect in Alabama by Perfect Game as a senior at WMHS…the third-rated shortstop and 30th-ranked prospect in the state according to Prep Baseball Report… named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) Class 4A All-State First Team as a senior…batted .355 with 10 RBI and 13 runs scored in 10 games of action during his junior season… a two-sport athlete who also played basketball for the Rebels of WMHS.

Sam Robertson, INF, 6-2. 176, Oxford, Northwest Shoals CC

Attends Northwest Shoals Community College after spending the 2024 season at Auburn University…Inked with the Tigers out of Oxford High School…appeared in six games as a pinch runner at Auburn…coached by former Gamecock standout Wes Brooks at Oxford…helped the Yellow Jackets to the 2023 AHSAA Class 6A state championship, held at Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium… rated by Perfect Game as the No. 9 overall player in Alabama, including the No. 2 shortstop … two-time ASWA Class 6A First Team All-State (2022-23) … 2023 World Showcase Top Prospect Team … MVP of the 2022 AHSAA North-South All Star Game … also played football … earned region MVP honors as a quarterback in 2021.

Luke Williams, OF, 6-0. 185, Tuscaloosa, Ala., Chipola College

Transferred to Chipola College in Marianna, Florida after two seasons at the University of Alabama…signed with the Crimson Tide out of Hillcrest High School…listed as the fourth-ranked outfielder from Alabama according to Prep Baseball Report… Perfect Game USA’s 11th-rated outfielder from the state… named the 2022 Super 9 Player of the Year by the Tuscaloosa News… earned second team all-state honors from the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) as a senior for Class 6A… helped Hillcrest to the state semifinals in 2022… batted .411 with a .525 on-base percentage in his final season of high school baseball…selected to the ASWA’s all-state second team following his junior campaign… a two-sport athlete who also competed in football for the Patriots…earned first team all-state honors as a punter while also earning all-region honors as a safety on the gridiron.
