Henderson leads way as Alexandria opens with victory. Pleasant Valley gets plenty of Sparks. Alexandria, Anniston, Spring Garden, Saks girls victorious.

WEAVER — Jaylen Henderson hit four 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 16 points, and Alexandria’s boys opened their basketball season with an 80-48 victory over Weaver.
Henderson also had nine rebounds.
Quendavion McDowell added 14 points with 11 rebounds, J.J. Beason 13 points and five rebounds and Cole Wheeler 12 points with six rebounds.
The Valley Cubs hit 10 3-pointers. Garrett Haynes hit three to account for his nine points.
KeShawn Allen led Weaver with 13 points. Kaden Gooden added 11 and Harper Williams 10.
PLEASANT VALLEY 70, SAKS 58: Jaden Sparks hit three 3-pointers en route to 21 points to lead Pleasant Valley to victory.
The Raiders, playing without injured players Cooper Dougal and Tyler Laros, also got 17 points from Hunter Sparks and 14 from Jake Barnwell.
Christian Hall paced Saks with 16 points. Lajuan Curry added 12 and Makhal Smith nine.
Girls
ALEXANDRIA 52, WEAVER 28: Landry Patterson scored a game-best 21 points as Alexandria’s girls opened the season with a victory.
Patterson went 9-for-14 from the field, hitting three of eight 3-point tries.
Sumira Duncan added 10 points.
Weaver’s Aliyah Marks hit four 3-pointers while scoring a team-high 16 points.
ANNISTON 48, CHILDERSBURG 34: Jayda Fomby amassed 19 points, five rebounds and three steals as Anniston (4-1) picked up a victory.
Liberty Lewis added 13 points and four steals. Saniyah Spinks had six points and five rebounds, and Summer Flentroy had four points, nine rebounds and four steals.
SPRING GARDEN 78, GAYLESVILLE 4: Ace Austin led four Spring Garden players in double figures with 26 points, and the Panthers led 39-0 after one quarter and 59-0 at halftime.
Austin also had seven rebounds, six steals and five assists.
Maggie Jarrett added 16 points, and the Panthers got 11 from Kristen Lewis and 10 apiece from Avery Steward and Olivia Law. Law led the way with 14 rebounds and nine steals to go with five assists. Steward had seven rebounds and four steals.
PLEASANT VALLEY 61, SAKS 28: Saks’ Madison Turner led all scores with 18 points, followed by Sania Angel with 17.
