All-Calhoun County football

See who made the 2024 East Alabama Sports Today Class 1A-3A and 4A-6A football teams and which players, coaches and games took the top awards.

Alexandria’s Todd Ginn (left) is the 2024 East Alabama Sports Today Class 4A-6A All-Calhoun County coach of the year, and Oxford quarterback Mason Mims is the player of the year. Ginn guided Alexandria from an uncharacteristic 1–9 finish in 2023 to an 8-4 finish and advancement to the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. Mims quarterbacked the Yellow Jackets to a 13-1 season and Class 6A semifinal appearance. The University of Louisville signee passed for 3,617 yards in 2024 and finished a remarkable career that saw him throw at least one touchdown passes in 36 of 37 starts over three years. Class 4A-6A All-Calhoun County football team

Player of the year: Mason Mims, Oxford, QB, 6-3, 210, Sr.
Coach of the year: Todd Ginn, Alexandria.
Game of the year: On Sept. 20, Mims throws a conversion pass to Nick Richardson with 21 seconds to play, and Oxford comes from a 14-point deficit to beat Mountain Brook on the road, 29-28, in a key Class 6A, Region 6 game.

Game of the year: On Aug. 23, Jake Roberson throws, Colby Hester tips and Brayden Collins catches a walk-off “Hail Mary” pass, and Ohatchee outlasts New Hope 76-71 in what was then the highest scoring regulation game in AHSAA history.
