Prep basketball

Proctor, Bethel lead the way as Piedmont goes 2-0 at Champions. Also, reports from Anniston, Coosa Christian and Cleburne County boys, Spring Garden and Ranburne girls.

ALEXANDRIA — Piedmont won both of its games in the Champions Christmas Tournament, finishing with a 56-43 victory over Moody on Saturday.

Colton Proctor led the Bulldogs (6-2) with 17 points, hitting all nine of his free throws. Ishmael Bethel added 15 points, hitting seven of eight free throws.

Piedmont hit 19 of 24 free throws overall.

ANNISTON 80, WINTERBORO 50: Dylan Goodson poured in 24 points, with two 3-pointers, and Caleb Ackles added 20 points to lead Anniston (5-3).

Jakorie Carr added 12 points, and Kyree Lewis added 11.

COOSA CHRISTIAN 75, GAYLESVILLE 40: Jaxon Peek hit six 3-pointers on the way to 22 points, and Coosa Christian improved to 9-1.

Samuel Reeves 14 points, including four 3-pointers. D.J. Mackey added 12 points and Grayson Malone 10.

BREMEN (GA.) 72, CLEBURNE COUNTY 64: Matthew Wilson paced Cleburne County with 222 points, and Lyric Ware added 15. The Tigers also got 15 points from Cavin Bates and 11 from Noah Turley.

Girls

SPRING GARDEN 48, GUNTERSVILLE 30: Ace Austin outscored Guntersville with 31 points. She also had six rebounds and five steals. Olivia Law added eight points and eight rebounds, and Montana Highfield turned in six rebounds.

RANBURNE 51, SOUTHSIDE 48: Brylee Bailey and Jadie Phillips scored 19 points apiece to lead Ranburne to victory. Phillips hit 11 out of 13 free throws.

Avery Loyd led Southside with 10 points.
