Duncan leads Alexandria girls to victory as alum Bowen comes home with his new team. Spring Garden lays down the Law against Gaylesville. Alexandria’s boys up to 15-3.

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria’s girls welcomed an alum home in victorious fashion Monday.
Sumira Duncan led three Valley Cubs in double figures with 21 points, and they beat visitor Boaz 59-45.
Alexandria grad Justin Bowen is in his first season as Boaz’s head coach after leading Southside to its first two Northeast Regional finals appearances.
Alexandria’s Charlee Parris hit one 3-pointer on the way to 13 points, and Landry Patterson hit two treys on the way 10 points.
Boaz’s Breanna Gentry hit five 3-pointers while scoring 17 points, and Addison Bowlin hit four treys while scoring 16 points.
SPRING GARDEN 77, GAYLESVILLE 5: Olivia Law scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Spring Garden (20-1) won in Class 1A, Area 12 play. She hit two 3-pointers.
Maggie Jarrett hit three treys en route to 18 points. She added six steals and five rebounds.
Boys
ALEXANDRIA 65, BOAZ 50: Quendavion McDowell led the way with 18 points, and Alexandria’s boys (15-3) made it a sweep over visiting Boaz on Monday.
Jaylen Henderson added 13 points. Caleb Fields added 10, and Cole Wheeler scored nine.
Boaz got 10 points apiece from Jakai Hudgins and Amin Cruz.
