Gadsden Country Club’s return and date swaps highlight the 2025 Calhoun County Golf.
Tour president Jeremy McGatha released the 2025 schedule Wednesday, and Gadsden Country Club’s return after a two-year absence marked the most notable change. The club’s invitational is Aug 1-3.
Ted’s Flooring & Beyond is the Tour’s sponsor, and Ted Gregerson is GCC member.
“Management has changed over there,” McGatha said. “They’ve got a new pro, and he introduced himself to me and asked me about the Calhoun County Golf Tour. He said they’d love to be back on it, if it would work out.
“It worked out, and they’re back on it.”
Gadsden Country Club effectively replaces Cherokee Pines, which returned to the Tour in 2024 but sold to new ownership.
In other notable changes, the County Two-Man, a non-points event, will not serve as the Tour kickoff this year. It moved to April 5-6, at Silver Lakes.
The Anniston City Championship, a stroke-play points event, will start Tour play on March 29-30, at Cane Creek.
The switch came from desires to keep the Tour at nine stroke-play events and to have as few back-to-back Tour weekends as possible. Also, the Ted’s Charity Invitational, which will play out at Anniston Country Club and Gadsden Country Club, moved from mid-July to May 17-18 because ACC will play host to a AGA event in the mid-July slot.
McGatha approached Cane Creek pro Chip Howell about going earlier than usual.
“It’s just the way all of the dates fell,” McGatha said. “We really needed to have one go early, and I talked to Chip about Cane Creek.
“I know it’s not ideal to have one that early, and they’d rather the course be in better shape, give the grass time to grow, but Chip said he was OK with having that date, so it’s going to be the kickoff event of the year.”
In another change, Pine Hill and Cider Ridge owner Cory Etter asked to flip Tour dates for those two courses. The Oxford City Championship, at Cider, is July 26-27, and the Pine Hill Invitational will be May 3-4.
Also, Silver Lakes director of golf Jason Callan requested to move the RTJ Silver Lakes Championship to July 12-13, after the Ted’s Charity tournament moved from that slot.
