JCA’s Lee posts second-highest single-game rebounding total in AHSAA history. Also, Alexandria, Glencoe, Spring Garden sweep. Jacksonville’s Nixon has huge night. Marbury paces Weaver boys. JCA, Ranburne, Saks girls victorious.

GAYLESVILLE — Noah Lee, the Maxpreps national rebounding leader, amassed 34 rebounds to go with 23 points as Jacksonville Christian beat Gaylesville 64-50 in Class 1A, Area 12 play.

Lee’s rebounding total is the second-highest single-game total in Alabama High School Athletic Association records. Chuck Person had 39 while playing for Brantley against Kinston in the 1980-81 season. Midfield’s Anthony Brown had 31 against Fultondale in 2018-19.

Lee also had five assists and two steals. 

Jesse Gannaway scored a game-high 27 points and added 14 rebounds, four assists and two steals as the Thunder improved to 11-3.

GLENCOE 79, OHATCHEE 47: Glencoe scored 30 points each in the first and second quarters and cruised to victory in Class 3A, Area 12 play.

Wade Segrest led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points, including two 3-pointers. Grant Smith added 13 points.

Davis Honeycutt hit three 3-pointers, all in the second quarter, on the way to 11 points, and Jayden Patton scored 11 points.

Ohatchee got 13 points from Jake Roberson and 12 apiece from Alston Carroll and Colby Hester. 

JACKSONVILLE 70, GASTON 41: Aaron Nixon hit five 3-pointers while scoring 21 points, and Jacksonville scored a non-area victory at Gaston.

Kamouri Harmon hit three 3-pointers while scoring 15 points. Quinn Weaver hit a trey on the way to 11 points, and Ben Pridgen scored 10.

Gaston’s Mica Merriman matched Nixon’s five 3-pointers while scoring 30 points. He also hit seven of eight 3-pointers.

WEAVER 69, RANDOLPH COUNTY 52: D.J. Marbury led the way with 19 points as Weaver won in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

Kaden Gooden added 15 points, including two 3-pointers, and Harper Williams matched Gooden’s 15 points. Junior Allen’s 11 points included three 3-pointers, and KeShawn Allen scored nine points.

Gavin Wortham led Randolph County with 16 points. Christopher Johnson added 12 points, and Braden Reaves’ 10 points included two 3-pointers.

ALEXANDRIA 84, CLEBURNE COUNTY 52: Quendavion McDowell dominated in the paint, scoring 22 points as Alexandria (17–3) won in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

Cole Wheeler hit two 3-pointers on the way to 18 points, and Jaylen Henderson’s 17 points included three 3-pointers.

Lyric Ware led three Cleburne County players in double figures with 13 points, including two 3-pointers. Koby Hale scored 11 points, and Cade Shubert added 10.

SPRING GARDEN 60, SOUTHSIDE 50: John Welsh led four Spring Garden players in double figures with 17 points, and the top-ranked Panthers completed a boy-girl sweep of Southside.

Jaylen Brown tossed in 15 points for the Panthers (18-0). Connor Bates and Jake Welsh each scored 11 points. Noah Barber finished with six points on a pair of 3-pointers.

Cayden Reason topped Southside with 16 points, including a pair of treys. Eli Stewart sank four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points.

CEDAR BLUFF 70, PLEASANT VALLEY 61: Cedar Bluff’s Shon Gleen scored a game-high 25 points, and Zach Jones added 22 points, including two 3-pointers.

Hunter Sparks and Jaden Sparks scored 14 apiece to pace Pleasant Valley. Jaden Sparks hit three 3-pointers.

Braxton Salster added 10 points. 

Girls

SPRING GARDEN 69, SOUTHSIDE 40: Ace Austin scored 30 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists as top-ranked Spring Garden improved to 21-1.

Maggie Jarrett hit three of four 3-pointers on the way to 17 points, and Olivia Law added 10 points and nine rebounds. Kristen Lewis hit three 3-pointers to account for her nine points.

SAKS 46, WELLBORN 22: Meorri English led the way for Saks (12-3) with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Madison Turner added seven points and eight rebounds, and JaKailynn Carter added six points on two 3-pointers.

GLENCOE 52, OHATCHEE 38: Kinlee Montgomery hit three 3-pointers en route to 25 points, and Glencoe (14-5) won in Class 3A, Area 12 play.

Anna Ponder added eight points, and Glencoe took control by holding Ohatchee to three fourth-quarter points.

Tabi Davidson led Ohatchee with 11 points. Emily Riddle added nine.

ALEXANDRIA 63, CLEBURNE COUNTY 24: Landry Patterson hit four 3-pointers, all in the third quarter, on the way to 16 points, and Alexandria won in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

Zoey Wilson hit two treys while scoring 11 points, and Cali Hess added 11 points. Allyssa Hunt scored nine.

Hannah Turley led Cleburne County with 11 points.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 48, GAYLESVILLE 18: Mollie Mullinax scored 17 points to go with five rebounds and four steals as JCA upped to 8-5 overall, 3–2 in 1A, Area 12 play.

Modasti Carr added nine points and eight rebounds, and Addy Lee had eight points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals.

RANBURNE 56, VINCENT 23: Jadie Phillips hit all three of her 3-pointers in the third quarter and scored 30 to lead Ranburne in Class 2A, Area 8 play. Brylee Bailey added 17 points.
