Oxford’s Alexander, Jacksonville’s Nixon, Ohatchee’s Carroll and Zurchin, Spring Garden’s Barber, Randolph County’s Milam heat up on big day for 3-point shooting. SG’s Welsh, Saks’ Hall, PV’s Sparks turn in 30-point performances.

PELL CITY — Jaylen Alexander hit seven 3-pointers on the way to 23 points, and Oxford’s boys rolled past Pell City 82-44 on Tuesday in Class 6A, Area 11 play.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 15-5 overall, 3-0 in area play.

Alexander hit five 3-pointers in the second half, four in the third quarter. He hit seven of Oxford’s 11 threes overall.

Jayden Lewis was next among three Oxford players in double figures with 17 points, and Chris Latson added 16.

OHATCHEE 71, WEAVER 54: Alston Carroll hit seven 3-pointers to account for his 21 points, and Ohatchee improved to 13-7. He hit three treys in the fourth quarter, two apiece in the first and third quarters.

Jake Roberson scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, which saw Ohatchee outscore Weaver 30-13.

Brayden Collins scored 14 points, and Jayden Heard rounded out four Indians in double figures with 13.

Ohatchee hit 11 3-pointers overall.

Weaver’s KeShawn Allen hit two threes on the way to a team-high seven points. D.J. Marbury scored 11 points, and Harper Williams’ 10 points included two 3-pointers.

ALEXANDRIA 61, CHEROKEE COUNTY 46: Jaylen Henderson hit three 3-pointers en route to a game-high 22 points, and Alexandria upped to 18-3 while winning in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

The Valley Cubs are 4-0 in area play.

Quendavion McDowell added 16 points and 19 rebounds.

Reid Jacoway led Cherokee County with 15 points. Tatum Perry added 13.

ANNISTON 55, MUNFORD 26: Caleb Ackles poured in 24 points, and Anniston improved to 14-3 overall with its 11th consecutive win, 5-1 in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Dakyus Baker added nine points, and Jakorie Carr added eight.

Lathan Stephens led Munford with seven points.

SPRING GARDEN 76, FAITH CHRISTIAN 40: John Welsh scored a game-high 30 points as the Class 1A top-ranked Panthers improved to 20-0.

Noah Barber hit four 3-pointers while scoring 16 points, and Conner Bates’ 15 points included three 3-pointers.

Faith’s Parker Roberson scored 22 points, including two 3-pointers, and Colin Anderson’s eight points included two 3-pointers.

JACKSONVILLE 66, WHITE PLAINS 58: Aaron Nixon hit six 3-pointers while scoring 27 points, and Jacksonville won a non-area game.

Quinn Weaver added 10 points, and Sean Herbert added nine.

Crew Martin led White Plains with 20 points, including four 3-pointers. Ethan Turner’s six threes accounted for his 18 points.

SAKS 59, RANDOLPH COUNTY 47: Christian Hall poured in 30 points to go with six rebounds as Saks won in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

Lajuan Curry added 13 points, six rebounds and six steals, and Jayden Culpepper chipped in eight points with four assists.

PLEASANT VALLEY 85, RAGLAND 33: Hunter Sparks poured in 32 points, including 18 of Pleasant Valley’s 30 first-quarter points, and the Raiders won in non-area play.

Braxton Salster added 18 points, and Brody Barnwell’s 14 points included two 3-pointers.

SAND ROCK 62, PIEDMONT 61: Tyde Traffenstedt led the way with 25 points, and Sand Rock won in overtime in non-area play. He hit three 3-pointers.

Will Cleere added 18 points, and Cam Gifford added 11.

Piedmont’s Rollie Pinto hit three 3-pointers on the way to 25 points, and Colton Proctor added 14.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 72, WELLBORN 46: Cade Shubert paced Cleburne County with 20 points. Matthew Wilson added 14 and Lyric Ware 13.

HOPE CHRISTIAN 74, NORTH RIVER CHRISTIAN 69: Van Cottrill poured in 22 points, and Aziah Amberson added 19 as Hope improved to 11-3 overall, 3-0 area. 

Girls

OHATCHEE 60, WEAVER 30: Lindsey Zurchin’s five 3-pointers accounted for her 15 points as Ohatchee cruised to victory.

Emily Riddle added 14 points, and Payten Walker added 13.

Brenley Russell paced Weaver with 14 points.

SPRING GARDEN 69, FAITH CHRISTIAN 19: Olivia Law led four Spring Garden players in double figures with 16 points.

Ace Austin, Kylie Bates and Montana Highfield added 10 points apiece as the Panthers improved to 24-1. Austin had five steals and six assists, and Highfield had four steals.

SAKS 47, RANDOLPH COUNTY 45: Alonna Crews led the way with 14 points, and Saks’ girls (13-3) rallied from a 12-point deficit to clinch the right to play host to the Class 3A, Area 9 tournament. She hit two 3-pointers

Sania Angel added 12 points, 10 in the second half.

Lizzie Milam led Randolph County, hitting five 3-pointers en route to 18 points. Anna Grace Henderson added 17 points. 

CHEROKEE COUNTY 60, ALEXANDRIA 41: Nevaeh Gaidurgis scored 20 points as Cherokee County won in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

Ellisan Givens added 10 points.

Alexandria got 13 points from Charlee Parris and eight from Samira Duncan.

RANBURNE 57, CENTRAL-COOSA 26: Jadie Phillips led the way with 17 points, and Ranburne won in Class 2A, Area 8 play. Brylee Bailey added 13 points.
