WEAVER 87, JCA 52: Kaden Gooden scored 22 points and KeShawn Allen 21 as sixth-seeded Weaver played its way into Monday’s quarterfinal matchup with No. 3 Anniston, which rides a 12-game winning streak into the tournament.
“To us, it’s just another game,” Allen said. “We’ve got to come prepared, hit our shots and just play Weaver basketball.”
Weaver burst into the tournament Saturday, getting out to a 13-2 start. JCA (13-5) rallied to within 20-16 by the end of the first quarter, but Weaver opened the second quarter 8-0.
The Bearcats grew the lead too 39-25 when Harper Williams banked in a 3-pointer from the top of the key. It was 41-25 on a Gooden runout and 41-27 at halftime.
Weaver outscored JCA 24-11 in the third quarter.
“That’s big,” Weaver coach Beau Winn said. “Our third quarter has been our nemesis.”
Williams and D.J. Marbury finished with 14 points apiece.
JCA’s Jesse Gannaway scored a game-high 27 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Noah Lee added 12 points to go with 22 rebounds.
JACKSONVILLE 78. SAKS 60: Ben Pridgen led the way with 18 points, and No. 5 Jacksonville (13-10) made it six consecutive victories headed into Monday’s quarterfinal against No. 4 Piedmont.
Kamouri Harmon added 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and Aaron Nixon scored 12 points.
“We’ve improved a lot,” Jacksonville coach Tres Buzan said. “Early season and through December, we’ve played a lot of really hard games and learned a lot.
“I think we’ve kind of figured out who we are and how we’re going to win games.”
Jacksonville’s matchup with Piedmont will be the first meeting between the teams this season.
“We’re going to have to play a little bit better than we did today,” Pridgen said. “We started off the first half pretty good. We just kind of slowed down the second half.
“We’ll have to play a whole game, but I think we can do that.”
Saks’ Christian Hall scored a game-high 24 points against Jacksonvile, including two 3-pointers, and Lajuan Curry hit five threes on the way to 21 points.

ALEXANDRIA 57, FAITH CHRISTIAN 17: Once the turnovers and runouts came in bunches, No. 5 Alexandria (9-13) was well on its way.
Sumira Duncan led the charge with 23 points, and the Valley Cubs enjoyed a running-clock fourth quarter.
“We got off to the start that we wanted to get off to,” Alexandria coach Craig Kiker said. “We missed a lot of shots early on, though, but we were able to get some turnovers and some layups and get a lead and back up and work on some things in the second half.”
Charlee Parris added 13 points, 11 in the second quarter, and Zoey Wilson added 10, including two 3-pointers.
Alexandria moves on to Monday’s quarterfinal against No. 4 Saks.
“We need to get out getback because we lost to them (earlier this season),” Duncan said. “I’m just ready to play them and go out there and play our hardest and do our best.”
