Boys’ games
ALEXANDRIA 53, WHITE PLAINS 38: A 10-0 run in the third quarter got No. 2 seed Alexandria going after training 26-24 at halftime, and the Valley Cubs (22-3) played their way into Monday’s 5:30 p.m. semifinal showdown with No. 3 Anniston.
Jaylen Henderson got Alexandria’s third-quarter run started, scoring the first seven of the 10 points. It started with his open 3-pointer to bring the Valley Cubs within 29-27, and his transition layup tied the game.
He put Alexandria ahead for good from the foul line, hitting one of two free throws on consecutive trips.
“Coach always wants me to be aggressive, so I just started to take over,” Henderson said. “Nobody could really score, and I decided to take batters into my own hands.”
Henderson scored 16 points, including two 3-pointers. Quendavion McDowell led the Valley Cubs with 22 points and 18 rebounds.
“We came out and didn’t play very good defensively, and they came out, really, they were tougher than us in the first half,” Alexandria coach Will Ginn said. “They were more aggressive than us in the first half. This was our first game, and they’ve had a game in this setting, and I think we came out a little bit skittish, gun-shy or whatever, and played a little bit soft or played scared really in the first half.
“We talked to them at halftime and loosened up and just kind of settled down and played a lot better on the defensive end of the second half.”
Will Graham led White Plains with 13 points, and Ethan Turner added 12. Both players hit two 3-pointers.

OXFORD 89, OHATCHEE 39: Jaylen Alexander led four Oxford players in double figures, and the top-seeded Yellow Jackets (18-6) rolled into Monday’s 8:30 p.m. semifinal against No. 4 Piedmont.
“Piedmont has a good team,” Oxford coach Joel Van Meter said. “They’ve got Rollie Pinto and Ish Bethel, but I’ve watched them on film, and they have some talent, and they play hard.”
Alexander’s 20-point night included two 3-pointers. Oxford also got 15 from Jayden Lewis, 13 from Chris Latson and Marcus Perry Jr. and nine from Cooper Romano.
Oxford led 49-25 at halftime and put up a 34-point third quarter.
‘From the start, I didn’t feel like we came out guarding people,” Alexander said. “We came in at halftime, and coach got onto us about that. We came out from a different intensity and worked from there.”
Jake Roberson led No. 8 Ohatchee (14-8) with 16 points. Alston Carroll hit two 3-pointers on the way to 10 points, and Brayden Collins added nine points.

Girls’ games
JACKSONVILLE 54, PIEDMONT 24: Jayci Taylor hit two 3-pointers on the way to a team-high 14 points, and No. 2 seed Jacksonville (19-6) played its way into Monday’s 4 p.m. semifinal against No. 3 Anniston.
Ontarriah Braxton added 12 points, and Jacksonville’s press and traps proved too much for Piedmont.
“We performed well defensively,” Jacksonville coach Corey Mize said. “We were able to move around. I just wish we could’ve finished more shots on the back end of it.”
Carson Young and Amiyah Thomas led Piedmont with seven points apiece. The Bulldogs played without Mel Studdard, who rolled an ankle at practice.
As for the semifinal showdown with Anniston, the two programs have become mirror teams since MIze took over at Jacksonville two years ago.
“We’re both always athletic,” Mize said. “We’re going to play fast, so this will be a good matchup.”
Taylor looks forward to the chance to play the Bulldogs.
“I feel like we’re going to come out and show them what we’re about,” she said.

OXFORD 75, WEAVER 10: Mikynlei Mosley led the way with 17 points, and top-seeded Oxford cruised into the semifinals against short-handed Weaver.
Oxford will play No. 5 Alexandria on Monday at 7 p.m.
Weaver’s Aaliyah Marks, who has played on and off since falling, hitting her head and suffering a seizure in a Jan. 7 game against Saks on Jan. 7, did not play. She watched from the bench.
Oxford also got 13 points from Bri Wilson, 11 from Ava Thomas and 10 from Takayvia Boyd.
“We all did our part, playing our best as a team,” Mosley said. “Everybody got in, and we just played good team ball.”
Oxford saw its first action in more than a week.
“It was good to play,” Oxford coach Melissa Bennett said. “It’s been eight days since we got to play, so I was very happy to get to play.”
