Jacksonville girls win as Phillips surpasses milestone. Ranburne girls win area opener. Piedmont’s Young guns combined for nine 3-pointers in victory. Zurchin shoots Ohatchee girls to victory. Piedmont, Alexandria, Oxford, Ohatchee and Cleburne County boys victorious.

JACKSONVILLE — Alexis Phillips surpassed the 1,000-career-points mark Thursday, and Jacksonville’s girls finished the regular season with a 63-24 victory over visiting Alexandria.

Phillips scored 14 points, including two 3-pointers. She came into the game needing two points to reach 1,000.

Jayci Taylor led Jacksonville with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Neveah Nicholson hit four treys on the way to 15 points.

The Golden Eagles improved to 21-7.

RANBURNE 53, CENTRAL-COOSA 27: Playing in the first round of the Class 2A, Area 8 tournament, Ranburne got a game-high 19 points from Brylee Bailey and advanced.

The Bulldogs (24-2) will play VIncent in Saturday’s 6 p.m. final. Vincent beat Horeshoe Bend 43-24 in the other first-round game.

Ranburne also clinched a berth in the sub–regional round.

The Bulldogs also got 18 points from Jadie Phillips, who hit two 3-pointers, and eight points from Maranda Ralston.

PIEDMONT 59, WHITE PLAINS 22: Josie Young hit six 3-pointers on the way to 23 points, and Piedmont’s girls finished the regular season 12-13.

Carson Young hit three treys and finished with nine points.

White Plains got 12 points from Brooksly Theilker.

OHATCHEE 56, WELLBORN 15: Ohatchee’s Lindsey Zurchin hit three 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 16 points.

Tabi Davidson added 13 points, and Payten Walker added 11.

Wellborn’s Destiny Benefield led Wellborn with 10 points.

Boys

PIEDMONT 57, WHITE PLAINS 52: Ishmael Bethel scored 19 points, and Piedmont ended the regular season with a victory.

Colton Proctor added 14 points, and Rollie Pinto added 10. The Bulldogs (16-7) hit 12 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter.

White Plains’ Ethan Turner hit five 3-pointers, three in the first quarter, while matching Bethel’s 19 points. Bryson Cheatwood added 10 points.

ALEXANDRIA 82, JACKSONVILLE 66: Quendavion McDowell led four Valley Cubs in double figures, and Alexandria improved to 24-4.

Cleat Forrest’s 14 points included three 3-pointers, and Cole Wheeler hit three treys while scoring 13 points. Jaylen Henderson hit two threes while scoring 10 points.

Alexandria hit 15 threes overall, with seven players hitting at least one.

Jacksonville’s Aaron Nixon hit a game-high five 3-pointers while scoring 17 points, and Kamouri Harmon’s 16 points included two treys.

Xzae English added 10 points. 

OXFORD 56, VESTAVIA HILLS 40: Jayden Lewis led the way with 16 points, and Oxford finished the regular season 21-6.

Jaylin Taylor and Chris Latson added 12 points apiece. Taylor continued his hot 3-point shooting from the Calhoun County Tournament, hitting two. 

Marcus Perry, Jr., hit three treys to account for his nine points.

OHATCHEE 80, WELLBORN 66: Jake Roberson hit two 3-pointers while leading five Ohatchee players in double figures with 20 points, and the Indians finished the regular season at 15-9.

Brayden Collins’ 16 points included two 3-pointers, and Jayden Heard hit one trey on the way to 14 points. Alston Carroll’s 13 points included three treys, and Colby Hester hit a team-best four treys to account for his 12 points.

Wellborn’s Ollie Boot led all scorers with 24 points. Ray Williams added 15, including two 3-pointers, and De’Andrez Kelly added 14 points. 

CLEBURNE COUNTY 63, RANDOLPH COUNTY 55: Cade Shubert paced Cleburne County with 17 points. Matthew Wilson added 14 points, and Noah Turley added nine.
