Spring Garden’s Austin reaches 1,000 career victories and other updates from high school area basketball tournaments that involve coverage-area teams.

Class 1A, Area 12 girls
SPRING GARDEN 70, GAYLESVILLE 2: Maggie Jarret hit five 3-pointers to account for her team-high 15 points, and top-ranked Spring Garden eliminated Gaylesville while advancing to Monday’s championship game against Jacksonville Christian.
Spring Garden also clinched a berth in the subregional round.
The victory lifted Spring Garden coach Ricky Austin to 1,000 combined victories for his career, combining his time coaching Spring Garden’s girls’ and boys’ teams. He’s coached the girls to eight Class 1A state titles.
Avery Steward added 11 points, Olivia Law nine and Ace Austin seven while contributing eight steals and eight assists. Lacy Jo McMurray also scored seven points.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 54, FAITH CHRISTIAN 39: Addy Lee scored 19 points to go with five steals and five assists, and JCA eliminated Faith while advancing to Monday’s area championship against Spring Garden.
JCA also clinched a berth in the subregional round.
JCA also got 11 points and seven rebounds from Sophie Williams and 10 points and 10 rebounds from K.B. Hudson.
Class 1A, Area 12 boys
SPRING GARDEN 72, FAITH CHRISTIAN 43: John Welsh poured in 30 points, and top-ranked Spring Garden advanced to Monday’s area final against Donoho.
The undefeated Panthers also clinched a berth in the subregional round.
Welsh’s day included two 3-pointers. He scored all of his points in the first three quarters.
Connor Bates hit four 3-pointers, all in the first quarter, on the way to 18 points. Jake Welsh scored 14 points.
Parker Robertson led Faith with 12 points, including two 3-pointers., and Colin Anderson added nine points.
DONOHO 55, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 47: Bruce Downey’s 20 points included two 3-pointers, and Donoho’s boys eliminated JCA while advancing to Monday’s area final against the Spring Garden-Faith Christian winner.
Donoho also clinched a berth in the subregional round.
Donoho also got nine points from James Benkwith and eight points apiece from Ryan and Ethan Crawford.
JCA’s Jesse Gannaway led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds. Noah Lee added 13 rebounds to go with four points, and Bryson Dowdey added 13 points.
Class 3A, Area 9 girls
SAKS 50, WELLBORN 12: Alonna Crews led the way with 13 points, and Saks eliminated Wellborn while advancing to face Randolph County in Tuesday’s area final. Randolph County eliminated Weaver.
Saks and Randolph County also clinched berths in the subregional round.
Meorri English added 12 points and five rebounds, and Madison Turner scored 11 points to go with five rebounds.
Class 1A, Area 11 boys
COOSA CHRISTIAN 76, VICTORY CHRISTIAN 51: Freshman Kylen Johnson poured in 23 points, and Coosa Christian eliminated Victory Christian while advancing to the area final.
The Conquerors will play the Jefferson Christian-Appalachian winner Monday. Coosa Christian also clinched a berth in the subregional round.
Senior D.J. Mackey added 18 points, and senior Jaylen Jones scored 16.
Class 3A, Area 12 girls
PIEDMONT 47, OHATCHEE 21: Josie Young continued her hot 3-point shooting, hitting four 3-pointers while leading the way with 14 points, and Piedmont’s girls advanced to Tuesday’s championship game against Westbrook Christian.
Piedmont (13-13) and Westbrook also clinched berths in the subregional round.
Young hit six 3-pointers in Piedmont’s regular-season finale, a victory over White Plains. She and Carson Young combined for 10 in that game.
Amiyah Thomas added 10 points Saturday, including two 3-pointers.
Tabi Davidson led Ohatchee with seven points.
WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 41, GLENCOE 39: Kylee Wyatt led Westbrook’s balanced scoring sheet with eight points, and the Warriors advanced to Tuesday’s area final against Piedmont while securing a subregional berth.
Westbrook also got six points apiece from Addi Hammontree, Raylee Neal, Jordan Brooks and Avery Snead. Neal hit two 3-pointers.
Kinlee Montgomery led Glencoe with 16 points, including two 3-pointers. Chloe Douglas hit two 3-pointers on the way to 10 points.
Class 2A, Area 8 girls
RANBURNE 51, VINCENT 44: Brylee Bailey led the Bulldogs to the area title, scoring 14 points.
Ranburne (25-2) will play host to a subregional game, with date and opponent to be determined.
Tournament MVP Jadie Phillips added 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and Aubrey Anglin added eight points.
The all-tournament team included Bailey, Phillips, Anglin, Ranburn’s Maranda Ralston, Vincent’s Makayla Perkins and Ja’Kayla McGinnis, Coosa Central’s Queen Ballard and Horseshoe Bend’s Jacey Johnson.
