JACKSONVILLE — John Ducar went 4-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs and a run to lead Jacksonville’s baseball team to a 14-4 victory over visiting Weaver on Friday.
Xaye Lemon went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs, and Matthew Salmon doubled, scored four runs and had two RBIs. Sam Parker Wagoner had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Jackson Bonner went 2-for–2 with a triple and a run.
Maquire Mallett allowed two hits, two earned runs and four walks with six strikeouts over four innings. Wagoner and Kingston Peeler pitched a hitless inning with two strikeouts apiece.
Weaver’s Jalen Kendall had a single and an RBI, and Tracen Jones added an RBI.
PLEASANT VALLEY 12, GLENCOE 1: Pleasant Valley Wesley Wheeler went 2-for-3 with a triple, double, three RBIs and a run.
Noah Johnson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Dallas Roper had a single, two RBIs and a run.
Jake Barnwell struck out seven batters and allowed two hits, a walk and one unearned run in 4 2/3 innings. Nic Acker retired the final batter.
CLEBURNE COUNTY 7, HORSESHOE BEND 2: Gabriel Wickersham, Matthew Wilson and Tyler Rucker had two hits and an RBI apiece as Cleburne County improved to 3-1.
Wilson’s two hits included a double.
Brayden Maduro allowed no hits or runs with seven strikeouts and two walks in 5 1/3 innings while getting the win.
RANBURNE 5, OHATCHEE 2: Ranburne’s Drew Davenport and Carter Loren combined to pitch a one-hitter. Davenport allowed one hit in four innings with four strikeouts. Loren struck out four batters with a walk and allowed no hits in three innings.
James Ward went 2-for-2 and scored two runs, and Colton Johnson had a double. Davenport and Aaron Daniel had a single and a run apiece.
Jake Roberson had Ohatchee’s hit and scored a run.
Softball
OHATCHEE 12, SAKS 0: Ohatchee’s Makayla Brackett allowed no hits with six strikeouts and two walks in four innings.
Mackenzie Luna led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Alanah Fitch went 2-for-3 with a home run, triple, two runs and two RBIs.
Jordyn Faulkner had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Mollee Barnes had a double, RBI and a run. Reese Steward added a single, RBI and run.
Savannah Reaves and Tabi Davidson each added an RBI. Reaves scored two runs, and Davidson scored one.
Ohatchee also beat Munford 2-1 and stands 7-1 on the season. Brackett allowed two hits with six strikeouts over five innings, and Ohatchee got two hits apiece from Reaves and Luna, and Reaves scored two runs.
Munford’s Addyson Britt had a single and RBI.
MUNFORD 10, RANDOLPH COUNTY 0: Madison Arnold allowed Randolph County no hits over four innings and struck out six batters.
Chloe Pickett went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Brooklyn Pressley and Kastin Lathem each had a double and two RBIs, and Ashtyn Bishop added a single and two RBIs.
Bayleigh Durham singled home a run, and Jena Gaither added an RBI.
The Lions also beat Saks 13-2, with Pressley homering and driving in four runs. Addyson Britt went 2-for-2 with a triple, double and two runs. Pickett and Bishop each had a single and RBI.
Arnold, Pressley and Brooklyn Haywood combined to hold Saks to no hits to four innings. Pressley struck out six batters over three innings.
WHITE PLAINS 12, ARAB 0: White Plains’ Carli Fritts pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts over four innings and homered twice while going 3-for-3 with six RBIs and two runs.
Callie Richardson went 2-for-2 with a home run, double, three RBIs and two runs. Carleigh-Anne Green had a single and two RBIs, and Ella Ponder added a single, RBI and a run.
Jaylie Holt hit a double.
The Wildcats also lost to Moody 6-5 despite a Kylee Provencio’s two-run home run and solo shots from Sara-Kate Adams, Richardson and Leighton Arnold.
PELL CITY 7, ALEXANDRIA 6: Pressley Slaton went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs, but Alexandria opened its season with a loss.
Charlee Parris hit a solo home run and scored two runs, and Cali Hess had a double, RBI and a run.
Soccer
JACKSONVILLE 4, CHEROKEE COUNTY 1: Scoring goals for Jacksonville were Willa Kate Walker, Emerson Weaver, Addison Becker, and Noelle McKercher. Sarah Sloughfy served up three assists, and Willa Kate Walker had one. Behind the defensive efforts of Emma Easterling, goalie Audrey Smith earned the win.
