Pleasant Valley scores 33 runs in doubleheader. Piedmont tops Centre. Wellborn’s Talley homers. Lincoln edges Alexandria. Munford, Central-Clay split. Twymon leads Saks’ 17-run output. St. Clair County edges Oxford.

PLEASANT VALLEY — Pleasant Valley put up 33 runs in a home doubleheader with Weaver on Monday, winning 12-2 and 21-6.

In Game 1, Will Underwood went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Logan Williams went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Dallas Roper was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.

Jake Barnwell pitched all five innings, striking out 10 batters while allowing two hits and one earned run.

Weaver’s Carson Campbell singled and drove in both Bearcat runs.

Pleasant Valley’s Wesley Wheeler went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs in Game 2. Roper went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs and two RBIs.

Williams went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. 

Nic Acker went 2-for-2 with a double, three runs and one RBI, and Dixon Duncan went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Greer Laros was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.

Underwood tripled, scored a run and added an RBI. Jackson Acker and Peyton Mann each had a single and RBI, and Mann scored four runs.

Weaver’s Landon Free had a double and two RBIs, and Tracen Jones drove in two runs. Campbell singled and drove in a run.

PIEDMONT 11, CHEROKEE COUNTY 6: Brodie Homesley went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs, and Piedmont topped visiting Cherokee County 11-6 in Monday’s high school baseball action.

Cole Wilson had a double and two RBIs, and Cole Austin was 2-for-3 with double, two runs and an RBI.

Aliandre Wright doubled with an RBI and scored a run.

Kale Austin singled with an RBI, and Brenan Hurst went 2-for-3 with two runs. Ben Dempsey singled and scored three runs.

Cherokee County’s James Griffith had two doubles, two RBIs and a run. Carson Tittle and Evan Hill each had a single, RBI and a run, and Luke Young had an RBI.

WELLBORN 9, FAITH CHRISTIAN 6: Wellborn’s J.D. Talley homered and drove in three runs. He also scored two runs.

Jackson Clark had a single and two RBIs.

Ashton Woodard went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs, and Tanner Ingram had a double and RBI. Liam Avery went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Woodard got the win, striking out three batters and allowing two hits and no earned runs in three innings.

Faith’s Toby Ricard went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Dylan Rogers went 1-for-3 with a run and RBI.

The Lions also got an RBI apiece from Tanner Smith, Levi Wells and Asher Ray. Colton Reese singled and scored two runs.

LINCOLN 5, ALEXANDRIA 4: Cole East reached base on a fielder’s choice, advanced on walks to Griffin Wilson and Brayden Palmore and scored when Nicholas Catlett was hit by a pitch to give the Golden Bears the lead in the top of the seventh inning.

Christian Bean led off the at bat with a single.

East had a double, three runs and an RBI. Carson Perez and Charles Woodruff each had a single and RBI, and Kason Korreckt was 2-for-4 with a run.

Wilson got the win, striking out four batters in 2 1/3 innings of relief. He allowed two earned runs and a walk.

Alexandria’s Garrett Haynes went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Cooper Smith was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jacob Cuningham had a double.

Alexandria starter Bray Goode allowed five hits in four innings, allowing three earned runs and a walk with seven strikeouts.

MUNFORD 3-4, CENTRAL-CLAY 2-5: Munford and Central-Clay split a doubleheader Monday, with Munford winning the first game 3-2 and Central-Clay winning Game 2 5-4.

Gatlin Watts and Brody Wilson combined to hold Central-Clay to seven hits and two earned runs in the first game. Wilson pitched three hitless and scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Braydon Nichols singled and drove in two runs, and Wilson had an RBI. B.J. Anderson went 2-for-2 with a double and scored a run.

Central-Clay’s J.T. Wilkerson went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Taylor Boyd doubled and had an RBI.

The Vols’ Gabe Harris singled and drove in two runs in Game 2, and Kaiden Glenn drove in a run.

Nichols doubled with an RBI and a run, and Watts had a single and RBI.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 11, WOODLAND 1: Cleburne County’s Asher Brown pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts in five innings. He also led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs.

Tyler Rucker singled and drove in three runs, and Gavin Robinson went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Aiden Laminack singled with two runs and an RBI, and Hunter Gore singled and scored two runs.

Softball

SAKS 17, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 13: Saks’ A.J. Twymon went 2-for-4 with a double, six RBIs and two runs, and J Carmichael had three RBIs and scored two runs.

Raina Zackery went 1-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.

JCA’s Tori Burdett went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and Carlie Chesson was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Sophie Williams was 5-for-5 with a triple, three runs and an RBI, and Addy Lee doubled and scored three runs. 

ST. CLAIR COUNTY 5, OXFORD 2: St. Clair County’s Carmen Garner doubled and drove in two runs, and Demeria Dean went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Maggie Nabors pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts in seven innings.

Oxford’s Madison Murphy went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and an RBI. Jordyn Alexander singled and had an RBI.
