ANNISTON — Pleasant Valley’s softball team finished off a sweep through the Saks Wildcat Invitational Saturday, beating Woodland 7-2, Central-Clay 4-0 and Sylacauga 7-0 at Calhoun County Softball Complex.
The Raiders made it two tournament titles in as many weeks while improving to 13-1. They won the Glencoe Invitational last week.
Lily Henry pitched a two-hit shutout against Sylacauga, striking out seven batters. She also went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Aubree Cromer was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Cailey Almaroad was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. Alexa Cranmer added a double, a run and an RBI.
Elise Wheeler was 2-for-2, and Ava Washington was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Against Central-Clay, Henry and Haylie Lee allowed a hit apiece and no walks. Both pitchers had two strikeouts.
Lilly Robinson was 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Lily Henry and Hanna Henry each had a single and an RBI.,
Lily Henry and Lee combined for a four-hitter against Woodland. Henry struck out three batters with one walk in three innings, and Lee pitched a perfect inning of relief.
Lee was also 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Cromer was 3-for-3 with a run. Lily Henry went 2-for-3 with a run.
OHATCHEE TAKES TITLE: The Indians won the Comer Classic at Sylacauga, losing to Lincoln 3-1 before reeling off four consecutive wins. They beat Fayetteville 3-2, Winterboro 15-0, Ashville 4-0 and Vincent 9-0.
Ohatchee improved to 16-5 while outsourcing opponents 32-4.
Gracie Reed had a single and RBI against Lincoln, and Makayla Brackett allowed four hits and two earned runs in three innings with two strikeouts.
Lincoln’s Paisley LaClair went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Z Korreckt had a single and RBI.
Tabi Davidson went 2-for-3 with an RBI against Fayetteville. Alanah Fitch and Reed each had a single and an RBI, and Savannah Reaves doubled and scored two runs.
Lexi Thomas and Jordyn Faulkner combined to hold Fayetteville to six hits in five innings. Thomas struck out give batters in four innings, and Faulkner had two strikeouts in one inning.
Annie Cox allowed two hits with two strikeouts in three innings against Winterboro, and the Indians got home runs from Davidson, Reed and Fitch. All three players had two hits and two RBIs.
Brackett had a single and two RBIs, and Reaves had a double and two RBIs.
Against Ashville, Brackett allowed one hit with four strikeouts in four innings. Fitch was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, and Reese Steward had a single, a run and two RBIs. Thomas had a single and RBI.
Brackett pitched another one-hitter against Vincent with four strikeouts in four innings. She also had a double and an RBI.
Reed was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Cox was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBIs. Davidson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Fitch was 2-for-3 two doubles and three runs.
Steward went 2-for-4 with a triple.
ALEXANDRIA GOES 4-1: Playing in the WCS Tournament at Sand Mountain Park, in Albertville, Alexandria (6-2) beat St. Clair County 5-4, Pisgah 13-1, Albertville 8-2 and White Plains 13-6 and lost to Sardis 7-6 to finish second.
Briley Bright went 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs against St. Clair County, and Charlee Parris was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Kaden Pritchett had a triple and an RBI. Pressley Slaton and Cali Hess each had a double and an RBI.’
Slaton pitched all five innings, allowing five hits, four walks and four earned runs with four strikeouts.
Slaton went 3-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs against Pisgah, and Reece Carr had a double, a run and an RBI.
Alexandria also got a single and RBI apiece from Allyssa Hunt, Brenlee Sparks and Hess.
Khloe England pitched a complete game against Albertville, allowing seven hits, no walks and one earned run with six strikeouts.
Bright went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Hunt and Pritchett each had a single and two RBIs.
Ryan Lumpkin went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Slaton had a double and RBI.
Alexandria outhit White Plains 15-13 in a slugfest. Slaton led the way with Alexandria, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs.
Sparks was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Hunt was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Hess and Carr each had two hits and an RBI.
Hunt was 3-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run against Sardis, and Bright was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Sparks had a single, an RBI and a run, and Parris was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Lumpkin had an RBI.
WHITE PLAINS GOES 3-1: The Wildcats (10-4) won three out of four at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville on Saturday, beating Valley Head 14-5, Geraldine 2-1 and Oneonta 12-1 before falling to Alexandria 13-6.
Against Valley Head, Callie Richardson went 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, four RBIs and two runs, and E Tidwell had a single and two RBIs.
Sara-Kate Adams went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and A Prichard had a double and an RBI. The Wildcats got a single and RBI apiece from Carleigh-Anne Green and Jayla Holt.
Carli Fritts pitched a one-hitter over six innings against Geraldine, striking out 14 batters. Richardson and Leighton Arnold each had a triple and a run.
Richardson homered twice and hit a triple while going 4-for-4 with six RBIs and three runs against Oneonta, and Fritts went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
Arnold was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Adams was 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI. Karli Otwell went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Holt had a double.
Arnold struck out seven batters and allowed on hit over three innings, and Green fanned three batters while allowing two hits in two innings.
Richardson went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs against Alexandria, finishing her day 10-for-15 with three home runs, four triples, two doubles, 14 RBIs and seven runs. She had four home runs and 18 RBIs over two days in Albertville.
Arnold hit a solo home run.
Adams was 3-for-4 with two runs, Fritts 2-for-2 with a double and a run and Holt 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
HANDLEY GOES 2-1: The Tigers won two out of three in the Comer Classic at Sylacauga on Saturday, beating B.B. Comer 3-2 and Lincoln 8-2 before falling to Vincent 13-10.
Against B.B. Comer, Handley (9-9), Makenzie McCain pitched all five innings, allowing six hits, two walks and two earned runs with three strikeouts. She also doubled and scored a run.
Clair Pike went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Tennley Benefield had a double, an RBI and a run. Breydan Watkins had a triple and a run.
Against Lincoln, Rayna Smith pitched all four innings, allowing six hits, one walk and one earned run with one strikeout. Watkins hit a grand slam home run, and Mattie Cochran added an RBI.
Against Vincent, Watkins came a single short of the cycle, hitting a home run, triple and double with six RBIs and two runs. Olivia Cobb had a single and two RBIs, and Handley got a single and RBI apiece from McCain and Keira Addison.
SAKS GOES 1-1: The Wildcats beat Weaver 5-4 and lost to Woodland 12-1.
Mylah Welch’s run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning gave Saks the lead against Weaver. Tatianna Arreguin went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Raina Zackary was 3-for-3 with a triple and a run.
Jamie Carmichael had a double and an RBI, and Adrianna Stevens had a single, an RBI and a run. Caylee Miller was 2-for-4.
Weaver’s Maddie Stanford 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Kaelyn Free was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Ashlyn Coleman had a triple and a run, and Anna Shirvinski was 2-for-3 with a run.
CENTRAL-CLAY 6, RANDOLPH COUNTY 2: A Harris went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run. W Wesley had a single and two RBIs, the Vols (10-5) got an RBI apiece from Lakelynn Karr and L Reed.
Reed pitched all five innings, allowing three hits, two walks and two earned runs with seven strikeouts.
Randolph County’s Lizzie Milam had a single and an RBI.
Baseball
OXFORD SPLITS: Gavin Griner pitched a two-hit shutout against and Oxford (9-6) beat Bob Jones 6-0 on Saturday before falling to Thompson 6-1.
Griner allowed two walks with one strikeout over seven innings.
Zakaree Newton went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and Bryson Bradford had a single and RBI. Canaan Whitman had two RBIs, and Oxford got an RBI apiece from Rocco Maniscalco and Hudson Gilman. Marcus Lawler was 2-for-3 with a run.
Against Thomspon, Lawler had a single and an RBI, and Gilman doubled and scored a run. Nich Richardson and Bradford each went 2-for-4.
WELLBORN 8, RANBURNE 7: Liam Avery was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and Wellborn (3-7) won in walk-off fashion. The game ended when Cameron O’Brien drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk with a full count in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Tanner Ingram went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Sawyer Thomas was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ashton Woodard went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Ranburne’s Carter Loren had a single and two RBIs, and Colton Johnson was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Drew Davenport had a single, a run and an RBI.
Soccer
DONOHO TAKES TITLE: Donoho’s girls’ soccer team beat Cleburne County 9-0 and Crossville 7-0 to finish off the championship of the ASOF Tournament at Oxford’s Choccolocco Park.
Anna Kate Wallace had six goals and two assists on the day, including four goals against Crossville. Samantha Wakefield had all four goals and three assists against Cleburne County.
Isabella Romero had a goal in each match, and Haley Hartwell had two against Cleburne County. Chloe Melton and Brooke Vandiber each had a goal against Crossville. Vandiber and Hania Rehman each had an assist.
Goalkeeper Laura Lee Church had five saves against Crossville.
Donoho, the top-ranked team in Class 1A-3A, improved to 8-0 with a season goal differential of 63-2.
