Spring roundup

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria’s Bray Goode pitched a four-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts, and Alexandria beat White Plains 6-0 to pick up a victory in Class 4A, Area 12 play. 

Goode also went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

Garrett Haynes had a single and two RBIs, and Jacob Cunningham had a double and an RBI and scored a run.

Camryn Johnson added a single, RBI and a run, and Jeremiah Heathcock went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. 

White Plains’ Aiden Kilgore went 2-for-3, and the Wildcats got a single apiece from Luke Richardson and Brodie Beecham.

PLEASANT VALLEY 6, DONOHO 1: Dallas Roper spread out six Donoho hits and allowed one earned run and one walk with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings, and Pleasant Valley won the first game of a Class 2A, Area 13 series.

Logan Williams got a strikeout for the final out. He also had a single, two RBIs and a run.

Roper went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Cooper Dougal and D Duncan ech went 2-for-2 with a double and a run, and Dougal had two RBIs.

Peyton Mann singled and scored a run.

Donoho’s Kai Cleckler went 2-for-3 with a home run.

HOPE CHRISTIAN 16, CORNERSTONE 0: Eli Bozeman gave Hope Christian (6-2) another Hope nope, allowing no hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over three innings. He also went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs as the Saints won their sixth consecutive game.

Cayden Slick led the Saints at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, five RBIs and three runs.

Aziah Amberson went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Easten Strickland went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Trevor Ryals added a single, a run and an RBI.

OXFORD 11, SIPSEY VALLEY 1: Hudson Gilman went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, two RBIs and two runs as Oxford improved to 10-6.

Canaan Whitman was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, and Rocco Maniscalco went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs. Reid Maniscalco added a single, an RBI and a run, and Marcus Lawler singled and scored three runs.

Mason Truett added a single and an RBI.

Bryson Bradford, Nick Richardson and Whitman each pitched two innings. Richardson got the win, allowing one hit with one strikeout.

WEAVER 10, SAKS 0: Tucker Michaels allowed one hit with 12 strikeouts and no walks in five innings, and Weaver improved to 3-10 with a victory in Class 3A, Area 9 play. He also had a single and scored a run.

Jalen Kendall led Weaver at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Demarion Whelch had a single and two RBIs. Landon Free was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Weaver got a single and RBI apiece from Peyton Andrews and Lyric Newman. Cael Fulmer was 2-for-3 with a run.

JACKSONVILLE 10-1, MUNFORD 4-9: Jacksonville (8-8) won the opener 10-1, and Munford (7-3) got even in the nightcap, 9-4.

The first game saw Jacksonville’s John Ducar pitch a complete game, allowing three hits and no earned runs with nine strikeouts.

Easton Lackey led the Golden Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, five RBIs and two runs. Drake Loggins was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs. Jackson Askew added a double and two RBIs, Xaye Lemon had a double and scored three runs.

Munford’s Lathan Stephens had two singles and a run, and Trenton Stringfellow hit a double.

Stringfellow went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and a run in the second game, and Braydon Nichols was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Kane Krafthefer went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. B.J. Anderson added a double and an RBI, and Gatlin Watts had a double and three runs.

Brody Wilson had a single and an RBI.

Jacksonville’s Jackson Bonner had a single and two RBIs, and Ducar was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Matthew Salmon was 2-for-4, and Lemon was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs. 

SOUTHSIDE 5, CHEROKEE COUNTY 2: Southside’s Eli Stewart had a single and two RBIs, and Ethan Sarratt had two doubles, a run and an RBI.

The Panthers also got a single and RBI from Alex Brewer and Will Stapleton, and Shelby Houston had a double. Houston also pitched four scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

Cherokee County’s Parker Wilson went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
RANBURNE 6, CLEBURNE COUNTY 3: Ranburne’s Drew Davenport pitched a complete game as the Bulldogs won in eight innings. He allowed eight hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

Lane Benefield had a double and two RBIs, and Owen Henderson was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Aiden Jackson added a single and an RBI.

Cleburne County’s Aiden Laminack went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Tyler Rucker was 2-for-3 with a run. Gabriel Wickersham had an RBI, and Cade Shubert hit a double.

SPRING GARDEN 6, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 4: Clayton Sadler had a double and two RBIs, and Joel Hunter added a single and two RBIs as Spring Garden won in Class 1A, Area 12 play.

The Panthers also got a single and an RBI apiece from Jonathan Baker and Grey Simpson, and Carson Bostick had a double and a run.

Zane Edwards got the win, allowing four hits in 4 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and two walks. Sadler pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits with three strikeouts.

JCA’s Noah Lee had a double and two RBIs and a run, and Nick Brodeur added a double and an RBI. Bryson Dowdey had a single, RBI and a run, and Sklyer Crider was 2-for-3 with a run.

VALLEY 5, CENTRAL-CLAY 4: Central-Clay’s Kalvin Simmons had a triple, a run and an RBI, and Gabe Harris was 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. Kaiden Glenn had a double and a run, and Andrew Seals added a double. The Vols are 6-7.

PLEASANT VALLEY 12, CEDAR BLUFF 1: Haylie “Mater” Lee pitched all six innings, allowing one hit and no walks with six strikeouts, and she homered while tying for the team lead with two RBIs as Pleasant Valley (14-1) upped to 2-0 in Class 2A, Area 13 play.

Aubree Cromer and Lilly Robinson were each 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Ellie Patterson had a double, two runs and two RBIs. 

Abby Evans was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and the Raiders got an RBI apiece from Cailey Almaroad and Alexa Cranmer.

ALEXANDRIA 10, WHITE PLAINS 0: Pressley Slaton pitched a two-hitters with one walk and five strikeouts in five innings, and Alexandria (8-2) improved to 2-0 in Class 4A, Area 12.

Kaden Pritchett doubled with two RBIs and scored a run. Charlee Parris was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Brenlee Sparks was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

The Valley Cubs also got a single and RBI apiece from Allyssa Hunt and Cali Hess, and BooBoo Bright went 2-for-3 with two runs.

White Plains’ Callie Richardson and Jayla Holt had a single apiece.

OHATCHEE 6, PIEDMONT 5: Ohatchee (17-5) scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win in Class 3A, Area 11 play, with Reese Steward and Gracie Reed reaching on run-scoring errors.

Reed finished with a single, three RBIs and a run, and Alanah Fitch was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs,

Steward went 2-for-4 with a run, and Makenzie Luna was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Piedmont’s Cayla Brothers was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Anna Hase had a double and an RBI, and the Bulldogs got a single and RBI apiece from Cadence Buttram, Carson Young and Na’Kiya Bothwell.

WEAVER 14, SAKS 11: Weaver’s Maddie Stanford had a double and two RBIs, and Kaelyn Free was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. 

Reyleigh Partner had a double and an RBI. Heaven Bishop and Ashlyn Colemman had an RBI apiece, and Coleman scored two runs.

Caitlyn Edmonson had a triple and two runs, and Anna Shirvinski added a double and a run.

Saks’ D’Carol Kidd had a single and two RBIs. Raina Zackary went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Adrianna Stevens was 2-for-4 was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Mylah Welch was 2-for-4 with a run.

SOUTHSIDE 7, OXFORD 6: Oxford scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game, but Southside’s Jalyn Allen delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the inning.

Oxford’s four-run seventh featured two-run doubles from Emma Tims-Becerra and Madison Murphy.

Rylann Shaw led Southside at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three runs. Bailey Houston went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Lauren McKee added a double, a run and an RBI.

Murphy finished 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs,and Emma Tims-Becerra was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Tymeria Smith-Lindsey was 2-for-3 with two runs. 

WELLBORN 13, CLEBURNE COUNTY 7: Cassidy Gray hit an inside-the-park grand slam as part of a day that saw her go 2-for-5 with six RBIs, and Wellborn improved to 3-3.

Hannah Grubbs was 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run, and Jaylyn Chattin went 5-for-5 with four runs and an RBI.

Jordan Hunt and Ryleigh Smith each added an RBI.
Cleburne County’s Brooklyn Hulsey had a double and two RBIs, and Claire Humphries was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Kenley Davidson and Lola Shelton each hit a double and had an RBI.

HOKES BLUFF 8, GLENCOE 7: Lacey Grace Hall’s walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh ended it.

Hokes Bluff’s Makenna Bennich was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and an RBI.

Mazely Ball had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Sophia Jackson had a double, two runs and an RBI. Lainey Beggs was 2-for-4 with a run.

Glencoe’s Caitlin Romano went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Evelyn Nowak 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Katy Talbot was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Kynsley Freeman added a single, a run and an RBI.

MUNFORD 15, CHILDERSBURG 2: Brooklyn Pressley went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, five RBIs and two runs, and Munford improved to (10-1).

Chloe Pickette with 4-for-4 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs, and Kastin Lathem was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Jena Gaither had a double, two RBIs and a run, and Madison Arnold was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs.

Addyson Britt had a double, a run and an RBI, and Crimson Conner had a single, a run and an RBI. Bayleigh Durham was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Pressley got the win with five strikeouts in two innings.
RANDOLPH COUNTY 15, WINTERBORO 0: Lizzie Milam allowed one hit with six strikeouts in four innings, and Aaiyah Lee went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs. She also added an RBI.

Gracie Huckeba went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Macie Smith was 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, and Bryer Thompson had a single, two RBIs and a run.

BENJAMIN RUSSELL 6, CENTRAL-CLAY 3: Lily McCain went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Addie Wesley added two RBIs for Central-Clay. Suraya Colburn had a double and scored a run, and Lakelynn Karr went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Ensleigh Giddens added a single and a run.

Soccer

DONOHO GIRLS 11, SAKS 1: Top-ranked Donoho (9-0) got five goals from Samantha Wakefield, three from Anna Kate Wallace and one apiece from Brooke Vandiber, Izzy Romero and Chloe Melton while winning in Class 1A-3A, Area 5 play. Melton had three assists, Wallace two and one apiece from Romero and Harper Draper one apiece.

The Falcons upped their season goal differential to 74-3.

WEAVER BOYS 6, CHILDERSBURG 1: Weaver got a goal apiece from Uli Lazcano, Jacob Wrobel, Carsyn Pippin, Cisco Nira, Cash Kelly and Gianluca Torres and won in Class 1A-3A, Area 5 play. Wrobel added two assists, and Landon Mayne had one. Goalkeeper Joe Vines had three saves.
