Carr’s one-hitter propels Alexandria softball. Henry homers as PV ups to 15-1. Young pitches Piedmont to shutout. Also, wins for Handley, Munford, Cherokee County and Central-Clay. In baseball, Weaver rolls up 26 runs, and Hope Christian ups to 8–2. Also, wins for Cherokee County, Spring Garden, Faith Christian and Munford. Donoho girls’ soccer now 10-0.

ALEXANDRIA — Reece Carr pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk, and Alexandria topped visiting Jacksonville 5-0 in Thursday’s prep softball action.
The Valley Cubs improved to 9-2, and Jacksonville stands at 5-8.
Alexandria’s Brenlee Sparks had a double and an RBI, and Pressley Slaton went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Charlee Parris doubled and scored a run.
The Valley Cubs also got a single and RBI apiece from Allyssa Hunt and BooBoo Bright, and Kaden Pritchett had an RBI.
Dailyn Woods had Jacksonville’s lone hit, a double. A Allen pitched six innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs and one walk.
PLEASANT VALLEY 13, SAND ROCK 3: Lily Henry went 2-for-2 with her 22nd career home run, three RBIs and two runs as Pleasant Valley improved to 15-1 while winning in Class 2A, Area 13 play.
Alexa Cranmer went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and leadoff hitter Cailey Almaroad went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Aubree Cromer went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI.
Haylie Lee went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Abby Evans was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Ellie Patterson had a single and two runs, and Lilly Robinson had an RBI.

PIEDMONT 4, GLENCOE 0: Piedmont’s Carson Young pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and two walks with one strikeout over seven innings. She also had a double, a run and an RBI.
Cayla Brothers doubled and scored a run, and Kaelyn Greene doubled with two RBIs. Na’Kiya Bothwell added an RBI, and Cadence Buttram had a single and a run.
HANDLEY 16, ANNISTON 7: Handley’s Breydan Watkins went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, and the Tigers improved to 10-10 while winning in Class 4A, Area 8 play.
Clair Pike was 4-for-5 with a double, four runs and an RBI, and Keira Addison went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Brynnley Lane was 2-for-3 with a double and four runs, and Olivia Cobb went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Anniston’s Arianna Storey went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run. Tyleasha O’Neal added a single and an RBI, and Aubree Thomas went 2-for-4 with two runs.
MUNFORD WINS TWO: The Lions (12-1) beat Talladega 12-0 and Lincoln 6-1.
Madison Arnold pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts against Talladega, and Kastin Lathem went 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs. Addyson Britt had a double, two RBIs and a run.
Brooklyn Haywood was 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI, and Bayleigh Durham had a single and an RBI. Jena Gaither went 2-for-2 with two runs. Ashtyn Bishop had a double and three runs.
Against Lincoln, Arnold went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Britt had a double and two RBIs. Gaither had a double, a run and an RBI, and Durham had a single, a run and an RBI.
Lathem was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.
Brooklyn Pressley allowed two hits, one walk and no earned runs with four strikeouts in four innings.
Lincoln’s Madison Smith had an RBI, and Chandler Stephens singled and scored a run.
CHEROKEE COUNTY 6, OHATCHEE 1: Cherokee County’s Emma Hill pitched a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts, and Isabella Patterson had a single with three RBIs and a run.
Bristol Bass went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Journie Cabe had a single, a run and an RBI. Sydni Frost tripled and scored a run.
Savannah Reaves and Gracie Reed had Ohatchee’s hits, both singles.
CENTRAL-CLAY 6, CLEBURNE COUNTY 1: Lakelynn Karr went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Central-Clay improved to 11-6.
Chloe Morris and Addie Wesley each had a double and an RBI. Lily McCain and Soccara Lopez each had a single and an RBI.
Morris pitched six innings, allowing two hits, two walks and no earned runs with six strikeouts, and Analyssa Harris pitched a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout.
Cleburne County’s Claire Humphries had an RBI, and Daylea Brewster doubled and scored a run.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 13, GLENCOE 5: Cherokee County’s Parker Wilson went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run as the Warriors improved to 9-8 with a victory over Glencoe (0-10).
Fresh off of his commitment to Gadsden State Community College, Carson Tittle had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Evan Hill went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.’
Adam Griffith went 2-for-6 with a run and RBI, and Nate Black was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
Cherokee County got a single and RBI apiece from Aiden Bobbitt, Case Hill and Cayce Tittle.
Black got the win, allowing two hits, one walk and no earned runs with eight strikeouts in four innings.
FAITH CHRISTIAN 10, ANNISTON 8: Jayden Smith went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs as Faith improved to 5-5.
Colton Reese was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Levi Wells added two RBIs. Toby Ricard went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Sam Ricard was 1-for-2 with two runs. Tanner Smith added an RBI.
Anniston got a single and two RBIs apiece from Caleb Ackles and Adyn Goodson. Zamari Hawkins had a single, an RBI and a run, and Cameron Williams had a single and a run.
HOPE CHRISTIAN 10, CORNERSTONE 0: Easten Strickland pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts over five innings, and Hope improved to 8-2. He helped his cause with a single, an RBI and a run.
Cayden Slick went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, and Kainen Bozeman was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and a run.
Trevor Ryals went 2-for-3 with a run, and Eli Bozeman added an RBI.
SPRING GARDEN 13, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 3: Joel Hunter had a single, three RBIs and a run, and Spring Garden improved to 5-6 with a win in Class 1A, Area 12 play.
Clayton Sadler went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Connor Bates had a single, two RBIs and two runs.
Carson Bostick was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Hayes Garmon added a double, a run and an RBI. JonaThe Bearcats pounded out 21 hits. Connor Hyatt led the way, going 5-for-6 with a double, six RBis and four runs.
Jonathan Baker and Grey Simpson each had a single, a run and an RBIs, and Zane Edwards hit a triple and scored a run.
Bostick struck out 10 batters with two walks and allowed seven hits and three earned runs over six innings.
Top contributors for JCA included Bryson Dowdey, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jesse Gannaway went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Grant Daffron had a single and an RBI. Jameson Holderread went 2-for-3.
MUNFORD 7, JACKSONVILLE 6: B.J. Anderson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Munford improved to 8-3.
Braydon Nichols and Gaitlin Watts each went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and A Wynn was 2-for-4 with a double. Lathan Stephens was 2-for-4 with a run.
Easton Lackey led the way for Jacksonville (8-9), going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Jackson Bonner, John Ducar and Matthew Salmon added an RBI apiece.
WEAVER 26, SAKS 0: Tracen Jones pitched a perfect game with eight strikeouts, and Weaver improved to 4-10 while completing a sweep in Class 3A, Area 9 play. He also went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI.
Tucker Michaels went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs. Landon Free was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs, and Carson Campbell was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.
Demarion Whelch was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs, and Haiden Hise went 1-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.
Jalen Kendall had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Cael Fulmer was 2-for-3 with four runs and an RBI.
Soccer
DONOHO 10, WEAVER 0: Samantha Wakefield had three goals and two assists to lead top-ranked Donoho (10-0), which now enjoys an 84-3 goal differential on the season.
Anna Kate Wallace added two goals and two assists, and the Falcons got a goal apiece from Brooke Vandiber, Brie Bailey, Katelyn McMorris, Morgan Perry and Haley Hartwell. Goalkeeper Laralee Church had five saves.
