Handley wins one, loses one. In baseball, Jacksonville, Oxford, Lincoln, Cleburne County and SG victorious. Hope splits.

CHILDERSBURG — Munford beat Childersburg 8-0 and Lincoln 18-6 on Friday to clinch its third consecutive Talladega County softball championship.

Munford (14-1) also completed a sweep of the softball and baseball county titles for 2025.

Madison Arnold pitched a three-hitter against Childersburg, with six strikeouts and one walk. She also doubled and scored a run.

Addyson Britt had a double, three RBIs and a run, and Brooklyn Pressley had a single, two runs and two RBIs.

Bayleigh Durham went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Chloe Pickette was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.

Britt and Pressley homered against Lincoln. Britt hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and finished the game with five RBIs and two runs. Pressley hit a two-run shot in the third inning and finished with three RBIs and three runs.

Durham was 1-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Arnold went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Jena Gaither had a double, an RBI and a run, and Ashtyn Bishop added an RBI. Kastin Lathem went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs.

Arnold was tourney most valuable player and joined Britt, Lathem and Gaither on the all-tournament team. Rounding out the team were Lincoln’s Chandler Stephens, Shelby Williams and Aubrey Machen, Childersburg’s Kelsie Kelly, B.B. Comer’s Lacy Liner and Sylacauga’s Josie Harshberger.

JACKSONVILLE 9, GLENCOE 8: Jacksonville (6-8) took the lead with a four-run rally in the sixth inning and fought off Glencoe’s two-run seventh.

Jacksonville’s Lacey Barnes went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in the sixth inning, and Dailyn Wood was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

Ana Strain had a double, a run and an RBI, and Raybon Pridgen had a double and a run. Sadee Pate-Whitfield and Jaylen Huntley each had a single and an RBI.

Glencoe’s Zowie Morris went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and Kynsley Freeman was 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. The Yellow Jackets are 4-7.

OXFORD 7, SAND ROCK 2: Emma Tims-Becerra went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, and Oxford improved to 6-7.

Madison Murphy was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Jayla Jackson went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Jackson also got the win, allowing five hits, one walk and no earned runs with six strikeouts in five innings.

Jordyn Alexander added a single and an RBI.

WEAVER 12, CLEBURNE COUNTY 6: Anna Shirvinski went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, four RBIs and two runs, and Weaver improved to 4-5.

Ashlyn Coleman went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and two runs. Maddie Stanford added two doubles with an RBI and a run.

Stevie McGinnis went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Caitlyn Edmonson doubled with an RBI and two runs.

Ali Anderson went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Ava Brown had a single, a run and an RBI.

Reyleigh Partner pitched a complete game for the win, allowing eight hits, no walks and no earned runs with three strikeouts.

Cleburne County’s Claire Humphries had a double, two RBIs and a run, and Emma Williamson went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Brooklyn Hulsey went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.

ALEXANDRIA WINS, TIES: Playing in the Hoover Met tourney, Alexandria (10-2-1) beat Chelsea 8-3 and tied Helena 1-1.

Allyssa Hunt went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBis against Chelsea, and Charlee Parris went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Kaden Pritchett added a single, a run and an RBI.

Pressley Slaton, Cali Hess and Ryan Lumpkin each had a single and a run, and BooBoo Bright went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Khloe England and Reece Carr split time in the circle, with Carr getting the win. She allowed four hits, one earned run and no walks with one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings. England worked 2 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, one walk and two earned runs with two strikeouts.

Hess went 2-for-3 with a double and a run against Helena, and Parris was 2-for-3.

WHITE PLAINS SPLITS: Playing in the Hoover Met tourney, White Plains (11-7) lost to Athens 6-1 and beat Mortimer Jordan 7-4.

Sara Kate Adams and Carli Fritts each hit a solo home run against Mortimer Jordan. Kylee Provencio added a single and two RBIs, and Wildcats got an RBI apiece from Jaylie Holt and Carleigh-Anne Green.

Leighton Arnold got the win, allowing three hits, three earned runs and two walks with three strikeouts.

Callie Richardson went 2-for-2 with a solo home run against Athens.

HANDLEY SPLITS: The Tigers (11-11) beat Montgomery Catholic 8-6 and lost to Smiths Station 12-7.

Keira Addison went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run against Montgomery Catholic, and Rayna Smith was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Olivia Cobb was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Brynnley Lane added a single and an RBI.

Breydan Watkins had three doubles, two RBIs and a run against Smiths Station, and Addison went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.

Makenzie McCain added a double. 

Baseball

JACKSONVILLE 7, CHEROKEE COUNTY 2: Maguire Mallett and Nicholas Johnson combined to hold Cherokee County to eight hits and two earned runs, and Jacksonville upped to 9-9.

Mallett allowed six hits, three walks and two earned runs with one strikeout in five innings. Johnson threw two innings of scoreless relief, with three strikeouts and two walks.

John Ducar had a single, two RBIs and two runs. Drake Loggins had a triple, two runs and an RBI. Easton Lackey and Sam Parker Wagoner each had a single and an RBI.

Cherokee County’s Luke Young went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Aiden Bobbitt had a single and an RBI as the Warriors dipped to 9-9.

OXFORD 7, AMERICAN CHRISTIAN 3: Hudson Gilman went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, an RBI and a run, and Oxford improved to 11-7.

Ayden Noyola had a single and two RBIs, and Bryson Bradford went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Reid Maniscalco had a double, an RBI and a run, and James Tapley added a double and a run. Canaan Whitman was 2-for-4.

Bradford got the win, allowing three hits, no walks and one earned run with a strikeout in two innings. Gavin Griner pitched five innings, allowing six hits, one walk and two earned runs with seven strikeouts in five innings.

LINCOLN 6, ALEXANDRIA 0: Parks Woodruff, Brayden Shisler and N Catlett combined to hold Alexandria to one hit. Woodruff got the win, allowing no hits and one walk with six strikeouts in four innings.

Steele Calhoun had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Lincoln got a single and RBI apiece from Christian Bean and Mark Darby.

Cooper Smith got Alexandria’s hit, a single.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 2, WOODLAND 0: Asher Brown pitched a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts as Cleburne County improved to 9-4.

Gabriel Wickersham went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Luke Smith had a single and an RBI.

Garrett Hendrix had Woodland’s hit, a single, and Cade Cross pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, two earned runs and no walks with two strikeouts.
GLENCOE 17, INDIAN SPRINGS 2: Jayden Patton went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs, and Glencoe (1-10) got its first victory of the season.

Cooper Gomez was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Jace White was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Bryce Borntrager went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Jackson Mabrey had a double, a run and an RBI.

Grant Smith pitched four innings, allowing two hits and two unearned runs with eight strikeouts.

SPRING GARDEN 12, SAND ROCK 2: Grey Simpson homered and drove in three runs, and Spring Garden improved to 6-6.

Connor Bates went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, and Zane Edwards added two RBIs. Jonathan Baker was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Carson Bostick was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Hayes Garmon went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Clayton Sandler pitched all five innings, allowing three hits, three walks and no earned runs with nine strikeouts.

HOPE CHRISTIAN 0-2, HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 6-1: Hope (9-3) split with Heritage, falling 6-0 in the opener and winning the nightcap 2-1.

Eli Bozeman struck out 14 batters and allowed three hits over 6 2/3 innings in the nightcap, and Cayden Slick got a strikeout for the final out.

Bozeman also had a triple, a run and an RBI, and Kainen Bozeman went 2-for-4 with a run.
