Oxford baseball runs winning streak to six games with two victories in Tennessee. Cherokee County wins two games. Alexandria softball dominates at Heflin, and Saks rolls against Wadlley.

Playing on its spring-break trip to Tennessee, Oxford’s baseball team ran its winning streak to six games Wednesday, beating Glenbrook South 7-5 and Oakland 9-3,

The Yellow Jackets improved to 16-7.

Oxford took the lead for good on Glenbrook South with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, coming on Marcus Lawler’s RBI single and Hudson Gilman’s sacrifice fly.

That gave Reid Maniscalco the win. He allowed three hits, no walks and no runs with one strikeout in 2 1/3  innings.

Ayden Noyola led Oxford at the plate with a double and three RBIs. Gilman had a double and finished with three runs and two RBIs.
Bryson Bradford went 2-for-3 and scored a run,

Oxford took the lead on Oakland with a six-run third inning. The rally featured Reid Maniscalco’s two-run single, Gilman’s two-run double and Bradford’s run-scoring bunt single.

Gilman finished 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Bradford was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Nick Richardsojn went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Colton Parten got the win, spreading out seven hits with no walks and one earned run and four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

CHEROKEE COUNTY WINS TWO: The Warriors beat Thorsby 12-1 and Ashville 5-2 to improve to 14-11 on the season.

James Hunter went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run against Thorsby. Parker Wilson and Luke Young each had a single, two runs and two RBIs.

Case Hill added a single and an RBI, and Cherokee County got an RBI apiece from Carson Tittle, Aiden Bobbitt and Evan Hill.

Tittle allowed two hits, three walks and no earned runs with one strikeout on the way to the win,

Against Ashville, Wilson had a double, two RBIs and a run, and Evan Hill had a double and an RBI. Tittle had a single, a run and an RBI, and Case Hill went 2-for-4 with a run.

Adam Griffith got the win, allowing three hits, two walks and one earned run with strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Softball

ALEXANDRIA 14, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Pressley Slaton went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs and an RBI, and Alexandria upped to 16-3-2 while winning in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

Cali Hess went 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs and two RBIs, and Charlee Parris went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs.

Allyssa Hunt went `1-for-4 with a team-high three RBIs. and Kaden Pritchett had a double, two RBIs and a run.

BooBoo Bright was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Reece Carr got the win, allowing one hit with six strikeouts in three innings. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Khloe England allowed one hit with two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

SAKS 12, WADLEY 1: Mylah Welch went 2-for-3 with double and three RBIs as Saks improved to 2-8-2.

A.J. Twymon went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Ava Snead was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Adrianna Stevens was 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Raina Zackary was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Caylee Miller went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Zackary allowed one hit with four strikeouts in three innings.
