PIEDMONT — Kale Austin pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and Piedmont beat Ohatchee 10-0 on Thursday to complete a doubleheader sweep of Ohatchee in Class 3A, Area 12 play.

The Bulldogs (9-8) won the first game 5-3. They also beat Ohatchee 5-0 On Tuesday, making it a series sweep.

The second game saw Cole Wilson go 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run, and Ben Dempsey was 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. 

Brayden Estes added an RBI and two runs, and Carson Sanders had an RBI and a run.

Xavier Luna and Joshua Hubert singled to account for Ohatchee’s two hits.

Brodie Homesley got the win in Thursday’s first game, spreading out seven hits over seven innings. He allowed two earned runs and three walks with eight strikeouts.

Homesley also went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Aliandre Wright added a run and an RBI.

Ohatchee’s Jake Roberson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Brayden Collins was 2-for-4. 

ALEXANDRIA 10, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Jace Loggins went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and Alexandria (13-9) won in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

Garrett Haynes went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Jeremiah Heathcock went 2-for-2 with a run.

Bray Goode had a double, a run and an RBI. Cole Wheeler and Sawyer Coggins each had a single and an RBI.

Jacob Cunningham had a run and an RBI.

Caleb Frazier got the win, allowing four hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings. Cooper Smith worked an inning of scoreless relief.

Cleburne County’s Aiden Laminack went 2-for-3. Asher Brown went 1-for-3 with a double.

OXFORD 3, SCIENCE HILL 1: Nick Richardson and Rocco Maniscalco combined to allow five hits, and Oxford made it seven victories in a row, including four on the Yellow Jackets’ spring-break trip to Tennessee.

Richardson got the win, allowing four hits, three walks and one earned run with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. He also had a double and scored a run.

Maniscalco pitched a scoreless 1 1/3 innings.

Hudson Gilman continues to swing a hot bat in Tennessee, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. He’s 7-for-13 with seven RBIs and seven runs in four games in Tennessee.

Canaan Whitman added an RBI.

Charlie Maniscalco went 2-for-3, and James Tapley hit a double.

WHITE PLAINS 11, RANBURNE 3: Luke Richardson, Jacob Stamm and Beau Madrigal each had two RBIs, and White Plains won at Ranburne to improved to 10-8.

Stamm went 1-for-1 with three walls and a run. Richardson went 1-for-3 with a double, and Madrigal added a run.

Dalton Luker went 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, two runs and an RBI, and the Wildcats got an RBI apiece from Crew Martin and Kingston Eagle.

Richardson pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, four walks and one earned run with seven strikeouts. Aiden Kilgore struck out the final batter and went 2-for-4 with three runs.

Ranburne’s Cason Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs, and James Ward had an RBI. 

LINCOLN 9, FIRST ASSEMBLY 2: Parks Woodruff went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Lincoln upped to 13-9.

Cole East went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Mark Darby went 2-for-5 with two runs. Carson Perez had a double and two runs, and Griffin Wilson and Charlie Ramsey each had a single and an RBI.

Brayden Palmore hit a double.

Nic Catlett pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, one walk and two earned runs with eight strikeouts in seven innings.

SPRING GARDEN 9, PLEASANT VALLEY 8: Connor Bates drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning to end it, and Spring Garden improved to 9-7.

The Spring Garden ninth also saw Jonathan Baker’s two-run single and Carson Bostick’s RBI single.

Pleasant Valley (11-9) scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning, on DIxon Duncan’s two-run double and Dallas Roper’s RBI single.

Spring Garden’s Zane Edwards went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Hayes Garmon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double.

Bates and Baker each had a single and two RBIs, and Joel Hunter went 4-for-5 with a run, 

Duncan finished with four RBIs, and Logan Williams went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Peyton Mann was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs, and Cooper Dougal was 2-for-4.

RANDOLPH COUNTY 11-12, WEAVER 5-4: Randolph County clinched the Class 3A, Area 9 series after Weaver (6-15) beat the Tigers 13-7 on Tuesday.

Mike Robinson went 4-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs in Thursday’s first game, and Daniel Jones had a single and two RBIs. Rhett Huddleston went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Ryder Pinson had a double, a run and an RBI.

Creed Blankenship added a double and three runs.

Weaver’s Landon Free went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and Tracen Jones was 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Haiden Hise had a single and an RBI.

Robinson went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs in Thursday’s second game, and Pinson was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a run. Blankenship went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Huddleston and Dalton Spivey each had two hits, including a double apiece. Huddleston scored three runs and Spivey one.

Weaver’s Jalen Kendall had a single and an RBI, and Carson Campbell added an RBI.

WELLBORN 21, SAKS 7: Ashton Woodard, Zack Pressley and Dozer Hayes each had four RBIs, and Wellborn (8-11) won in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

Pressley went 3-for-3 with a double and four runs, Woodard 2-for-4 with three runs and Hayes 1-for-4 with two runs.

Cameron O’Brien and Eli Wicklund each had a single and two RBIs, and J.D. Talley was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Jackson Clark went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.

Saks’ Lajuan Curry went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Eli Willis had a single and two RBis. Landen Cordry went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and D.J. Tuck had a double and a run. 

Softball

ALEXANDRIA WINS TWO: Alexandria beat Glencoe 16-0 and Fort Payne 13-1 on Monday, making it four wins in a row.

The Valley Cubs (18-3-2) outscored opponents 54-2 in those four games.

Reece Carr allowed one hit with no walks and five strikeouts in three innings against Glencoe. She also had an RBI.

Cali Hess went 3-for-3 with five RBIs and two runs, and Pressley Slaton went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs. Brenlee Sparks went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

BooBoo Bright went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Charlee Parris and Ryan Lumpkin had a single and RBI apiece.

Against Fort Payne, Slaton allowed one hit, one walk and one earned run with five strikeouts in four innings. She also hit a grand slam to give her two homers and eight RBIs for the day.

Parris went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Sparks went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run.

PIEDMONT 9, OHATCHEE 0: Piedmont’s Carson Young spread out seven hits with no walks and one strikeout in seven innings, and Piedmont (4-10) scored its second consecutive victory while winning in Class 3A, Area 12 play.

Young also had a single, two runs and an RBI.

Anna Hase went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Cayla Brothers and Na’Kiya Bothwell each had a single, two runs and two RBIs.

Eliza Mathis went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Kaelyn Greene had a single, a run and an RBi.

Ohatchee’s Savannah Reaves went 2-for-4 with a double.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 17, COOSA CHRISTIAN 5: Addy Lee had quite the day as JCA (4-6) won in Class 1A, Area 12 play, going 3-for-4 with six RBIs. Her day included a home run and a double.

Sophie Williams got the win , allowing six hits, one walk and one earned run with eight strikeouts.

Carlie Chesson went 2-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run, and Cali Sexton added a double and a run.

Mollie Mullinax went 3-for-3 with a double, five runs and two RBIs, and Bryleigh Reid 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

RANDOLPH COUNTY 13, SAKS 3: Hannah Parmer had a single, four RBIs and a run, and Randolph County (9-6) win in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

Bryer Thompson went 1-for-2 with four runs and two RBIs, and Gracie Robinson had two RBIs and a run.
Macie Smith had a single, a run and an RBI, and Gracie Huckeba went 1-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Lizzie Milam got the win, allowing three hits, one walk and one earned run with three strikeouts in three innings.

Saks’ A.J. Twymon went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Adrianna Stevens had a double and an RBI. Ava Snead was 2-for-4 with a run, and Mylah Welch was 2-for-3 with a run. 

WEAVER 16, WELLBORN 7: Ashlyn Coleman went 2-for-5 with a home run, a triple, five RBIs and two runs, and Weaver (6-6) won in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

Caitlyn Edmonson went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Anna Shirvinski went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Maddie Stanford went 2-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs, Reyleigh Partner and Payton Hall each had a single and an RBI.

Wellborn’s Jordan Hunt, Ryleigh Smith and Brylee Ward each had a single and an RBI.

Soccer

WEAVER BOYS 1, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Weaver’s Joe Vines scored on Cisco Nira’s assist, Goalie Zach Rhodes had three saves.
