PIEDMONT — Bray Goode struck out 18 batters Monday, leading Alexandria to a 6-2 victory over Piedmont in high school baseball action.

The Valley Cubs improved to 14-9, and Piedmont is 9-11.

Goode pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing four hits, three walks and two earned runs, but 18 of 20 outs on his watch came by strikeout.

Cooper Smith pitched the third of an inning, allowing one walk and one hit.

Alexandria’s Garrett Haynes had a double and two RBIs. Cole Wheeler went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Jace Loggins had a double and an RBI, and Sawyer Coggins had a single and an RBI.

Jeremiah Heathcock went 2-for-3 with a run.

Piedmont’s Aliandre Wright went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

OXFORD 10, SHADES VALLEY 0: Gavin Griner pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts over five innings, and Oxford (19-7) made it nine wins in a row while winning in Class 6A, Area 11 play.

Nick Richardson and Charlie Maniscalco led the way at the plate. Richardson went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Maniscalco went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run.

Marcus Lawler went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Ayden Noyola had a double, a run and an RBI.

Bryson Bradford went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Hudson Gilman had a double and two runs.

DONOHO 5, SAND ROCK 2: Hayes Farrell pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and Donoho improved to 5-9 while winning in Class 2A, Area 13 play.

Farrell also went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

Cash Worley added a solo home run.

Jordan Cameron had a single and an RBI, and Bo Whitelaw went 2-for-2 with a run.

JACKSONVILLE 7, MOODY 4: Matthew Salmon went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, and Jacksonville (12-14) won in Class 5A, Area 11 play.

Easton Lackey went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run.

Maquire Mallett went 2-for-3 with two runs, and John Ducar went 2-for-3. 

Ducar also got the win, allowing seven hits, three walks and one earned run with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. Salmon struck out three batters while allowing one hit and one walk in 1 1/3 innings.

PLEASANT VALLEY 6, CEDAR BLUFF 5: Peyton Mann delivered the walk-off single in the 10th inning, and Pleasant Valley (12-10) won in Class 2A, Area 13 play.

Noah Johnson went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and Dallas Roper tripled and scored a run.

Logan Williams pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and three walks but no earned runs with four strikeouts. Roper worked 3 1/3 innings, allowing five hits, four walks and one earned run with two strikeouts.

OHATCHEE 2, GLENCOE 0: Xavier Luna pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks over seven innings, and Ohatchee (7-11) won in Class 3A, Area 11 play.

Brayden Collins went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Hunter Brown went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. 

Glencoe’s Aiden Johnson pitched a complete game, striking out 13 batters while allowing seven hits, two earned runs and no walks in seven innings.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 11, WHITE PLAINS 3: Parker Wilson went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run, and Cherokee County (15-11) won in Class 4A, Area 12 play.

Aiden Bobbitt went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and James Hunter had a single and an RBI. Adam Griffith added a double and three runs, and Evan Hill went 2-for-3 with a run. Case HIll went 2-for-3 with a run.

Ben Elsberry pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, no walks and no earned runs with three strikeouts.

White Plains’ Luke Richardson went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Ashton Wallace went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.

SPRING GARDEN 14, FAITH CHRISTIAN 3: Zane Edwards went 2-for-4 with a double, five RBIs and two runs, and Spring Garden (11-7) won in Class 1A, Area 12 play.

Connor Bates added a double, a run and an RBI, and Joel Hunter went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Carson Bostick went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Hayes Garmon had a single, two runs and an RBI.

Bostick pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, two walks and three earned runs with six strikeouts.

Faith’s Jayden Smith went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Colton Reese went 2-for-3 with a run.

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 11, HOKES BLUFF 4: Dylan Rainey went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and Westbrook Christian won in Class 4A, Area 11 play.

Noah Wright had a double with three RBIs and two runs, and Emmett Daniel had a single, two runs and two RBIs. Brady Carden went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Rainey got the win, allowing seven hits, four walks and four earned runs with five strikeouts.

Hokes Bluff’s Colten Shields went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Bray Bearden and Brodie Brogdon each had a single and an RBI, and Bryce Whitaker had a double and two RBIs.

MUNFORD 16, ANNISTON 0: Munford’s Lathan Stephens and Gatlin Watts pitched a combined no-hitter, and Munford (12-5) won in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Stephens struck out 10 batters in four innings, and Watts struck out six in three innings.

Stephens and Watts each had a single, two RBIs and a run. Austin Wynn went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Bryson Cooper had a triple with two RBIs and a run.

Trenton Stringfellow added a single, two RBIs and a run, and Braydon Nichols went 2-for-4 with a double.

GAYLESVILLE 1, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 0: Jesse Gannaway pitched a four-hitter with 15 strikeouts, but JCA (7–5) fell in Class 1A, Area 12 play. Nick Brodeur, Noah Lee and Grant Daffron each had a hit for the Thunder, and Brodeur hit a double.

Softball

GLENCOE 13, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 2: Sadie Waldrop went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Glencoe (6-12) won in Class 3A, Area 12 play.

McKenzi Landers added two RBIs.

Caitlin Romano went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Kynsley Freeman was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Evelyn Nowack had a double and an RBI, and Isabella Romano had a double, a run and an RBI.

Nowak pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Westbrook Christian’s Alexis Crossley had an RBI. Avery Snead and Lexie Seawright each had a single.

MUNFORD 15, TALLADEGA 0: Addyson Britt went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs, and Munford (18-3) won in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Bayleigh Durham had a double and two RBIs, and Brooklyn Pressley had a single and two RBIs. Chloe Prickette added two RBIs and a run.

Marlie Hall, Jena Gaither and Tayla Marlow each had a single and an RBI.

Pressley got the win, allowing one hit with five strikeouts in two innings.

Soccer

DONOHO GIRLS 11, SAKS 1: Anna Kate Wallace scored four goals, and top-ranked Donoho improved to 13-0 while running its season goals differential to 111-6.

The Falcons are 5-0 in area play.

Samantha Wakefield added three goals, Lauren Wiggly two, Addison West one and Chloe Melton one. Wakefield had three assists, and Donoho got one apiece from Wallace, Melton, Katlyn McMorrison and Brooke Vandiber.

Goalie Laralee Church had three saves.

WEAVER GIRLS 10, FAITH CHRISTIAN 0: Lena Johannson turned in five goals and four assists as Weaver picked up an area victory.

Annalynna Canchucaja had five goals and three assists.

McKenna White and Maggie Santiago each had an assist, and goalie Paisley Quick had 17 saves.

WEAVER BOYS 10, FAITH CHRISTIAN 0: Uli Lazcano led the way with three goals, and Weaver picked up an area victory.

Gianluca Torres added two goals, and the Bearcats got one apiece from Cisco Nira, Carsyn Pippin, Corbin Craycraft, Quinn Sani and Jacob Wrobel.

Goalie Joe Vines had one save. 

JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 5, OXFORD 0: Scoring for Jacksonville were Willa Kate Walker with two goals and Emerson Weaver, Kylie Terrell, and Sarah Sloughfy with a goal each. Behind the defense of Emma Easterling, goalies Mya Swain and Audrey Smith combined for eight saves.
