WEAVER — Anna Kate Wallace surpassed a career milestone Thursday, and Donoho’s top-ranked girls’ soccer team downed Weaver 7-0.

The Falcons improved to 14-0.

Wallace scored four goals to reach 101 for her high school career. The Alabama-Huntsville signee has 45 goals this season and 78 during her two playing seasons at Donoho. 

She scored 23 goals while playing for Talladega High School.

Samantha Wakefield added two goals against Weaver, and Addison West had one.

Donoho improved to 5-0 in area play and upped its season goals differential to 118-6.

WEAVER 2, DONOHO 0: Weaver’s Gianluca Torres and Uli Lazcano scored a goal apiece, and goalie Joe Vines had five saves.

JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 8, DOUGLAS 0: Jackonville’s Emerson Weaver led the scoring with four goals and one assist. Sarah Sloughfy added two goals and three assists. Willa Kate Walker scored two goals and had an assist, and Joeh Kim had an assist.  Led by the defensive efforts of Emma Easterling, goalies Mya Swain and Audrey Smith combined to earn the shutout.

Baseball

PLEASANT VALLEY 15, CEDAR BLUFF 13: Nic Acker went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Pleasant Valley (13-10) clinched the Class 2A, Area 13 title.

The Raiders are area champions for the first time since 2008 and will make their first playoff appearance since 2018.

Logan Williams had a team-high three RBIs, going 1-for-3 with two runs. Will Underwood had a double and two RBIs, and Peyton Mann added two RBIs and a run.

Noah Johnson went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run, and Wesley Wheeler went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Dallas Roper went 2-for-5 with three runs and an RBI.

Dixon Duncan added a double, two runs and an RBI.

PIEDMONT 7-1, ALEXANDRIA 4-7: Piedmont (10-12) and Alexandria (15-10) split a doubleheader Thursday, and the Valley Cubs took two out of three against Piedmont this week.
Alexandria won 6-2 Tuesday.

Aliandre Wright and Brenan Hurst each had a single, two RBIs and a run in Piedmont’s win Thursday. Cole Austin and Kale Austin each had a single, an RBI and a run, and Jackson Howard went 2-for-4 with a run.

Kale Austin got the win in relief, pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Alexandria’s Bray Goode went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Camryn Johnson went 3-for-3 with a run. Cooper Smith went 2-for-4 with a double and a run, and Sawyer Coggins went 2-for-4 with a run. 

Alexandria’s Brodie Barber got the win in the other game, spreading out six Piedmont hits with seven strikeouts.

Garrett Haynes went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run, and Goode went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Jeremiah Heathcock went 2-for-4 with a run, and Jacob Cunningham went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Coggins added a single and two runs.

Piedmont’s Cole Wilson had a single and an RBI.
HOPE CHRISTIAN 4, LOUISVILLE CHRISTIAN 2: Trevor Ryals wet 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and a run, and Hope Chrisitan improved to 15-6.

Levi Franklin added a single and an RBI, and Cayden Slick went 2-for-2. Eli Bozeman got the win, pitching a 3-hitter with nine strikeouts.  

OXFORD 13, SHADES VALLEY 0: Nick Richardson and Hudson Gilman combined to hold Shades Valley to three hits, and Oxford (20-7) made it 10 wins in a row while winning in Class 6A, Area 11 play.

Richardson spread out three hits with two strikeouts over four innings. Gilman worked a perfect inning of relief with three strikeouts.

At the plate, Richardson went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs, and Gilman had a double, a run and an RBI.

Canaan Whitman had a double, three RBIs and a run, and Jay Lambert added a double and an RBI. Charlie Maniscalco went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs, and Ayden Noyola added a single, a run and an RBI. Bryson Bradford went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

MUNFORD 18, ANNISTON 0: Trenton Stringfellow went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Munford (13-5) won in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Lathan Stephens went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs, and Braydon Nichols went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.

Gatlin Watts went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Austin Wynn went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Kyler Shaw added a single, two RBIs and a run.

Landon Gallahair went 2-for-2 with two runs. Kane Krafthefer and Aiden Harris each had a single and an RBI. 

Nichols and Shaw combined for a no-hitter. Nichols struck out eight batters in three innings, and Shaw struck out six batters in two innings.

JACKKSONVILLE 1-9, MOODY 4-0: Jacksonville (13-15) rebounded from a Game 2 loss to take its Class 5A, Area 11 series with Moody.

Moody won Thursday’s opener 4-1, but Jacksonville won the nightcap 9-0. The Golden Eagles won 7-4 on Tuesday.

In Thursday’s nightcap, Matthew Salmon allowed four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in six innings. Maquire Mallett pitched a perfect inning of relief.

Salmon also had four of Jacksonville’s 11 hits, going 4-for-4 with three runs.

John Ducar went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs, and Parker Moore went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Jackson Bonner added a single and an RBI, and Xaye Lemon went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Jackson Askew pitched a solid outing in Thursday’s first game, allowing three hits, three walks and no earned runs with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Nicholas Johnson got the final two outs.

Easton Lackey had a double and a run, and Sam Parker Wagoner had a single and an RBI.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 11-9, WHITE PLAINS 3-13: Cherokee County (16-12) and White Plains (11-10) split the doubleheader, but Cherokee County won the Class 4A, Area 12 series.

Thursday’s first game saw Cherokee County’s James Hunter go 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Case Hill had a single and two RBIs. Aiden Bobbitt went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Carson Tittle and Evan Hill each had a run and an RBI.

Tittle got the win, pitching a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in seven innings.

White Plains’ Luke Richardson went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Aiden Kilgore had a single and a run. Dalton Luker added an RBI.

In the second game, Kilgore went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Luker went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Richardson went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Logan Laube went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Brodie Beecham had a double, two runs and an RBI, and Patrick Sams added a single, two runs and an RBI.

Cherokee County’s Parker Wilson had a triple and three RBIs. Luke Young went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Owen Jacoway went 2-for-4 with a run, and Daniel Neyman went 1-for-3 with two runs.

SPRING GARDEN 19, FAITH CHRISTIAN 1: Spring Garden (12-7) made it five wins in a row while clinching the Class 1A, Area 12 series.

Hayes Garmon pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and added a single, a run and an RBI.

Clayton Sadler went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Connor Bates went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Carson Bostick went 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBIs.

Joel Hunter 3-for-3 with a double and four runs, and Zane Edwards added two RBIs and a run. Grey Simpson had a double, a run and an RBI.

Faith’s Tobi Ricard went 2-for-2 with a run, and Dylan Rogers had an RBI.

CENTRAL-CLAY 6-10, SYLACAUGA 3-9: Central-Clay (10-11) rebounded from a loss to Sylacauga on Tuesday to take their Class 5A, Area 8 series.

Central-Clay’s Andrew Seals had a single, three RBIs and a run in the decisive second game, and Tyler Boyd added a double, an RBI and a run.

Hudson Foster had a single, three runs and an RBI, and Kalvin Simmons added a single, a run and an RBI. Eli Harris added a single and an RBI.

Braden Sprayberry allowed three hits and struck out four batters in six innings of work in the first game.

Boyd went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs, and Harris had a single and two RBIs. Taylor Boyd added a single, a run and an RBI.

GLENCOE 12-10, OHATCHEE 10-4: Glencoe (6-15) rallied to win its Class 3A, Area 12 series after losing to Ohatchee (7-13) on Tuesday.

Glencoe’s Jace White and Luke Johnson each had a single, two RBIs and a run in Thursday’s first game. Jake Boggs went 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI, and Aiden Johnson went 3-for-4 with an RBI. 

Jayden Patton had a double, a run and an RBI, and Parker Gulledge went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

Ohatchee’s Drake Kay went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs, and Jake Roberson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Colby Hester Brayden Collins each had a single, an RBI and a run.

In the second game, Aiden Johnson had a triple, three RBIs and a run. D Roach had a double and an RBI, and Grant Smith went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Boggs added a single, a run and an RBI. Patton and White each had a single and two runs.’

Smith allowed seven hits with eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings, and Jaxon Hollis allowed no hits,no runs and one walk with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.

Ohatchee’s Xavier Luna went 2-for-3 with a home run, and Collins had a single and two RBIs.

HOKES BLUFF 6-11, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 2-9: Hokes Bluff (16-12) rebounded from an 11-4 loss to Westbrook on Tuesday to win their Class 4A, Area 11 series.

Micah Brasher won Thursday’s first game, allowing five hits and five walks but two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Hokes Bluff’s Bryce Whitaker went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Bray Bearden went 3-for-3 with a double and a run, and Drew McCarver went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Anderson Morgan went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Colten Shields added an RBI.

Westbrook’s Emmett Daniel and Bo Kilgo each had a single and an RBI, and William Chadwick had a double.
Shields led the way at the plate in Thursday’s second game, going 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, four runs and three RBIs.

Whitaker went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, and Bearden went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Brodie Brogdon went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

McCarver had a triple, an RBI and a run. Morgan went 2-for-5 with a run.

Westbrook’s Dylan Rainey went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Brodie Johnson went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI.

Kilgo went 2-for-2 with two runs, and Noah Wright had a single and two RBIs.

LINCOLN 3-8, ST. CLAIR COUNTY 2-3: Lincoln (15-11) rebounded from a loss to St. Clair County on Tuesday to clinch the Class 5A, Area 11 series. 

Nic Catlett and Parks Woodruff combined to hold St. Clair County to four hits in Thursday’s first game. Catlett allowed three hits with nine strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings, and Woodruff struck out two batters in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Christian Bean had a single and two RBIs, and Cole East singled with one RBI.

Bean and Steele Calhoun each had a single and two RBIs in Thursday’s second game. Charlie Ramsey had a double and an RBI, and Lincoln got a single and RBI apiece from Carson Perez and Brayden Palmore.

Nolen Wright got the win, allowing two hits with five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Brayden Shisler struck out four batters in 2 2/3 innings.

RANBURNE 8, MOUNT ZION (Ga.) 3: Sam Davenport went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Ranburne improved to 10-15.

Cason Jones went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Drew Davenport went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Colton Johnson went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Softball

HANDLEY 5, MUNFORD 2: Breydan Watkins went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Handley improved to 13-12 while winning in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Watkins also got the win, allowing five hits, two walks and no earned runs with six strikeouts over seven innings.

Claire Pike went 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI, and Brynnley Lane went 2-for-3 with a run. Rayna Smith added a double and a run, and Keira Addison added a single and an RBI.

Munford’s Addyson Britt went 2-for-4, and Brooklyn Pressley had a single and a run.

LINCOLN 20, SAKS 4: Lincoln’s Aubrey Machen went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and four runs.

Natalie Harrell went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs.

Lincoln got two RBIs apiece from Madison Smith (1-for-3, three runs), Shelby Williams (2-for-4, one run) and Zoe Korreckt (1-for-3, two runs). 

Smith, Williams and Chandler Stephens combined to hold Saks to five hits.

Saks’ Raina Zackary went 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBIs, and Caylee Miller went 2-for-3 with a run.

SPRING GARDEN 5, CEDAR BLUFF 3: Avery Steward spread out seven hits, one walk and three earned runs with seven strikeouts over seven innings, and Spring Garden improved to 8-7-2.

She also went 2-for-2 with two runs.

Helena Ingram went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Lilly McCain added a double and a run, and Addie Word went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. 

Olivia Law had a single and a run, and Maggie Jarrett had a single and an RBI.

CENTRAL-CLAY 3, BRIARWOOD CHRISTIAN 1: Ensleigh Giddens went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Central-Clay improved to 18-9 while winning in Class 5A, Area 8 play.

Lily McCain went 2-for-3 with a triple, and Suraya Colburn went 2-for-3 with a double. 

Lauryn Reed got the win, allowing no hits, walks or runs with two strikeouts in three innings.
