ALEXANDRIA — Bray Goode worked extra Tuesday, and he was extra good.

The Alexandria senior and South Alabama signee allowed four hits with nine strikeouts over eight innings, and Alexandria beat Cherokee County 2-1 in Class 4A, Area 12 play. 

Goode also hit a double and had an RBI.

Alexandria’s Garrett Haynes went 2-for-4 with a double and a run, and Cooper Smith went 2-for-3.

Cherokee County’s Parker Wilson went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and James Hunter had an RBI.

Ben Elsberry pitched a solid outing, allowing eight hits, three walks and two earned runs with one strikeout in 7 2/3 innings.

PIEDMONT 8, GLENCOE 4: Kale Austin went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Piedmont clinched the Class 3A, Area 11 title, the Bulldogs’ 13th consecutive area title.

Cole Austin went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs, and Carson Sanders went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Brodie Homesley got the win, allowing nine hits and three earned runs but no walks and six strikeouts in six innings.

Cole Austin pitched a perfect seventh inning with three strikeouts for the save.

Glencoe’s Jake Boggs went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Aiden Johnson went 2-for-3. Grant Smith and Jaxon Hollis each had a single and an RBI, and Luke Johnson had a double and a run.

ANNISTON 17, TALLADEGA 1: Caleb Ackles went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs, and Anniston (2–9) won in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Dylan Goodson went 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBIs, and Zamari Hawkins went 4-for-4 with four runs and one RBI.

Adyn Goodson had a double and two RBIs, and Ha’raggi Harris had a single, a run and an RBI.

Cameron Williams got the win, pitching a three-hitter with nine strikeouts over four innings.

HOKES BLUFF 5, SOUTHSIDE 4: Bryce Whitaker went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and Hokes Bluff improved to 18-12.

Logan Wiemann went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs, and the Eagles got an RBI apiece from Brodie Brogdon and Drew McCarver.

Bray Bearden got the win, allowing two hits, two walks and no runs with one strikeout in three innings.

Southside’s Alex Brewer went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Kolton Johnson added an RBI and a run, Will Stapleton hit a double and scored a run, and Dominic Governale went 2-for-3.

HOPE CHRISTIAN 13-22, NORTH RIVER CHRISTIAN 0-1: Hope Christian improved to 18-6 with a doubleheader sweep on the road.

Trevor Ryals allowed two hits with six strikeouts in three innings in the first game. He also went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.

Aziah Amberson went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, and Sean Perez went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run.

Easten Strickland went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, and Layton Owensby hit a double.

Kainen Bozeman went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs, and Hope scored 22 runs in the first inning of the second game. The Saints sent 28 batters to the plate, pounding out 10 hits and capitalizing on seven errors, five hit batsmen, three walks and two balks.

Eli Bozeman went 1-for-1 with three runs and three RBIs.

Amberson went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Perez went 1-for-1 with two runs and an RBI. Zion Davis added a single, a run and an RBI.

Cayden Slick worked two innings on the mound, allowing four hits but no walks and striking out one batter.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 10, FAITH CHRISTIAN 0: Jessie Gannaway pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and added a single at the plate, and JCA (8-6) won in Class 1A, Area 12 play.

JCA’s Grant Daffron went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Noah Lee went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Bryson Dowdey went 2-for-4 with three runs.

Jameson Holderread, Moses Averette and Skyler Crider added an RBI apiece.

JACKSONVILLE 1, ST. CLAIR COUNTY 0: John Ducar pitched a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and Jacksonville (14-15) won in Class 5A, Area 11 play. Easton Lackey had a single and an RBI, and Xaye Lemon scored the game’s lone run.

LINCOLN 4, MOODY 1: Carson Perez allowed five hits and struck out 10 batters in seven innings, and Lincoln (17-11) won in Class 5A, Area 11 play. He also had an RBI.

Parks Woodruff went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and G Wilson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

MUNFORD 6, HANDLEY 2: Lathan Stephens spread out three hits over four innings with six strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Munford upped to 14-6 while winning in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Gatlin Watts went 1-for–3 with two RBIs. Austin Wynn added a double and an RBI. Braydon Nichols and B.J. Anderson each had a single and an RBI.

Handley’s Alexander Busbin went 2-for-4 with a run, and Ben Pike went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

PLEASANT VALLEY 9, SAND ROCK 1: Dallas Roper and Jackson Acker combined to hold Sand Rock to two hits with nine strikeouts, and Pleasant Valley (15-10) won in Class 2A, Area 13 play.

Roper got the win, allowing two hits with six strikeouts in five innings. Acker allowed no hits, one earned run and one walk with three strikeouts in two innings.

Roper also went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and DIxon Duncan went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run.

Noah Johnson went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Peyton Mann went 2-for-3 with three runs.

RANBURNE 9, HORSESHOE BEND 3: Rance Merrill allowed five hits with nine strikeouts for the win, and Ranburne (11-15) won in Class 2A, Area 8 play.

Colton Johnson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and James Ward added a run and an RBI.

SPRING GARDEN 10, GAYLESVILLE 0: Zane Edwards pitched a two-hitter with one strikeout and went 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs, and Spring Garden (13-7) won in Class 1A, Area 12 play.

Grey Simpson added two RBis, and Clayton Sadler went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Hayes Garmon went 2-for-2 with a double and a run, and Joel Hunter had a single and three runs.

Softball

PLEASANT VALLEY 18-23, GASTON 2-9: Pleasant Valley (24-9) came out swinging in Class 2A, Area 13 play on Tuesday, amassing 37 hits in two games.

On the day, Alexa Cranmer went 6-for-9, a triple, six RBIs and seven runs. Aubree Cromer went 4-for-6 with a triple, six RBIs and five runs.

Lilly Robinson 3-for-4, seven RBIs and three runs, and Ellie Patterson went 4-for-6 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI.

Sarah Freeman  went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run in the second game, and Baily Grogan went 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run.

Lily Henry went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBIs and three runs in the first game and didn’t play in the second.

Haylie Lee got the win in the first game, pitching a two-hitter with five strikeouts in four innings. Grogan got the win in the second game, allowing six hits, four earned runs and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings. 

ALEXANDRIA 4, CHEROKEE COUNTY 2: Pressley Slaton pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts, and Alexandria (24-4-2) won in Class 4A, Area 12 play. She also had an RBI.

The Valley Cubs got solo home runs from Allyssa Hunt and Ryan Lumpkin. Charlee Parris hit a triple and scored a run.

Cherokee County’s Sofie Dawson hit a double and had a RBI, and Brooklynn Bruce singled with an RBI.

HANDLEY 20, TALLADEGA 5: Rayna Smith went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, four runs and four RBIs, and Handley improved to 15-12 while winning in Class 4A, Area 8 play.

Brynnley Lane went 2-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and two runs, and Breydan Watkins went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs.

Aliyah Wilson added two RBIs and three runs,

Makenzie McCain allowed three hits, two walks and four earned runs with two strikeouts in three innings.

MUNFORD 4, CENTRAL-CLAY 2: Brooklyn Pressley got the win, allowing one hit with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings, and Munford improved to 19-4. She also went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Chloe Prickette had a single and an RBI, and the Lions got two hits apiece from Kastin Lathem and Ashtyn Bishop.

Central-Clay’s Suraya Colburn went 3-for-3. Soccara Lopez and Lakelynn Karr each had a single and an RBI.

RANBURNE 10, RANDOLPH COUNTY 8: Autumn Lovvorn went 3-for-5  with a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and two runs, and Ranburne improved to 7-9.

Rylie Duke went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Rylann Graham went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. K,K. Rollins added a single and an RBI, and Jayla Stewart went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Randolph County’s Gracie Robinson went 1-for-4 with three RBIs, and Bryer Thompson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Gracie Huckeba went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Aniyah Lee went 2-for-4 with two runs.

SPRING GARDEN 13, JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 1: Lilly McCain and Hayden Parris combined to allow two hits, and Spring Garden won in Class 1A, Area 12 play. McCain worked 4 2/3 innings with five strikeouts, and Parris got the last out.

Maggie Jarrett went 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBIs and a run, and Avery Steward went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs.

Helena Ingram went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Layla Ingram added a double and two RBIs, and Addie Word went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

JCA’s 0 and 2 each had a single.

WOODLAND 12, WINTERBORO 0: Railey Williams pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts, and Woodland (18–3) won in Class 1A, Area 8 play. She also had a double, two runs and an RBI.

Emma Elsberry went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and two runs. Alyssa Taylor went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Skylar Vann went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Kinsley McDaniel went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs.
