ANNISTON — Donoho’s boys and girls dominated the Red Wilder Invitational on Wednesday at Anniston Country Club.

The Red Wilder serves as the de facto Calhoun County tournament for tennis.

The following players won their singles and/or doubles courts:

BOYS:

Golf

OXFORD INVITATIONAL: Oxford’s Jay Whaley won low medalist, and Alexandria won the team title Wednesday at Cider Ridge.

The team scores went as follows: Alexandria 309, White Plains A 311, Oak Mountain 311, Benjamin Russell 317, Gardendale 334, Oxford 335, Weaver 342, White Plains B 345, Pell City 347, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 355, Central-Clay 368, Jacksonville 370.

Whaley shot a 73 to finish one stroke ahead of Alexandria’s Cleat Forrest and two Oak Mountain golfers, Sam Martin and Luke Butts. Donoho’s Carson Chandler took fifth at 75.

Alexandria’s Fisher Prichard shot a 76, Jamarcus Stokes 80 and Pierson Otralek 81.

Ethan McCareeth and Ethan Turner led Calhoun County champion White Plains at 77, and county medalist Cam Hurst shot 78. Ben Campbell shot 79.

Jackson Askew led Jacksonville at 77, and Walker Hobbs shot an 81.

Weaver’s Easton Capps shot 77. John Curtis Reaves shot 82 and Haiden Hise 83.

Softball

OHATCHEE 14, GADSDEN CITY 2: Alanah Fitch went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run, and Ohatchee improved to 20-9.

Savannah Reaves went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run, and Jordyn Faulkner went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

The Indians also got an RBI apiece from Reese Steward, Lexi Thomas and Makayla Brackett.

Faulkner pitched a complete game, spreading out seven hits with one walk, one earned run and two strikeouts.

SAKS 6, WELLBORN 3: Raina Zackary went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run, and Saks (5-14-1) won in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

A.J. Twymon went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. and Ava Snead went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and three runs.

Adrianna Stevens added a single and two RBIs, and Zee Foster had an RBI.

Zackary got the win, pitching a complete-game four-hitter with 14 strikeouts.

Wellborn’s Destiny Benefield and Maci Maxwell each had a single and an RBI. Cassidy Gray pitched a solid five innings in relief, spreading out six hits with three earned runs, two walks and six strikeouts.

WHITE PLAINS 14, CLEBURNE COUNTY 0: Carli Fritts pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and no walks, and White Plains (17-11) won in Class 4A, Area 12 play. She also had an RBI.

Sara Kate Adams went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs. Karli Otwell went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Emma Tidwell 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Ansley Prichard went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs.

Brooklyn Hulsey had Cleburne County’s hit, a single.

Baseball

SPRING GARDEN 17, GAYLESVILLE 8: Spring Garden (14-7) got three RBIs apiece from Connor Bates and Grey Simpson and clinched a Class 1A, Area 12 series.

Simpson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run, and Bates went 1-for-5 and scored two runs.

Clayton Sadler went 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Joel Hunter went 2-for-6 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Hayes Garmon went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Zane Edwards went 2-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI. John Welsh 1 went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Noah Barber went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

WEAVER 6, WELLBORN 4: Landon Free went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run, and Weaver (8-16) won in Class 3A, Area 9 play.

Demarion Whelch and Carson Campbell each went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Tracen Jones and Jalen Kendall each added an RBI.

Weaver’s Tucker Michaels pitched five innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs with six strikeouts. 

Wellborn’s Dozer Hayes went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Liam Avery and Tanner Ingram each went 2-for-4 with a run, and Cameron O’Brien went 1-for-1 with two RBIs.

PIEDMONT 9-13, GLENCOE 0-3: Piedmont (15-12) cliched its 13th consecutive area title Tuesday and finished off a Class 3A, Area 12 sweep Wednesday.

Cole Austin pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk in the first game. He also went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Ben Dempsey and Carson Cleveland each had two RBIs. Cole Wilson had a single and RBI, and Brayden Estes had a single and two runs. Chase Kirkpatrick added a single and a run.

Glencoe got a single apiece from Grant Smith, Cooper Gomez and Luke Johnson.

Kale Austin spread out five hits with one walk and nine strikeouts in the second game. 

Cole Austin had a team-high three RBIs. Estes and Kirkpatrick each had a single and two RBIs. Tolbert and Carson Sanders added a single and RBI apiece.

Glencoe’s Braxton Fortenberry went 2-for-2 with a run and a RBI. Jayden Patton and Jace White each had a single and RBI, and Gomez doubled and scored a run.
