TEMPLE, Ga. — Less than a week after winning its eighth Calhoun County title, Donoho’s girls soccer team stands 18-0 with a fresh new ranking.
The Falcons are No. 6 across all classifications in the Alabama soccer coaches poll, behind No. 1 Vestavia Hills, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Hoover, No. 4 Spain Park and No. 5 Oak Mountain … four Class 7A teams and one Class 6A team.
Donoho had held the No. 1 ranking in Class 1A-3A since the season’s first poll.
Donoho beat Temple (Ga.) 4-2 on Wednesday. Anna Kate Wallace scored two goals and had two assists, and the Falcons got a goal apiece from Brooke Vandiber and Katelyn McMorris. Lauren Wigley added an assist.
Donoho’s season goal differential stands at 144-9. The Falcons are 7-0 in Class 1A-3A, Area 5 and have won the area title.
Softball
OHATCHEE 13, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 1: Gracie Reed and Mollee Barnes had three RBIs apiece, and Ohatchee improved to 23-10.
Barnes went 1-for-3 with a double and a run, and Reed went 1-for-3 with a run.
Reese Steward went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Mackenzie Luna went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Alanah Fitch went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Savannah Reaves went 2-for-2 with a run.
Jordyn Faulkner went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Makayla Brackett went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
Faulkner got the win, allowing one hit, one walk and no earned runs with one strikeout over three innings. Brackett struck out three batters and allowed one hit and no walks in two innings.
MUNFORD 18, ANNISTON 8: Brooklyn Pressley went 3-for-4 with a double, four runs and three RBIs, and Munford (22-6-1) won in Class 4A, Area 8 play.
Kastin Lathem went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs.
Madison Arnold and Addyson Britt each had a double and two RBIs, and T Marlow went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.
Raleigh Dew had a double, an RBI and a run, and Ashtyn Bishop added a single and an RBI. Chloe Pickette went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four runs.
Anniston’s House went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run, and the Bulldogs got a single and RBI apiece from Aubrey Thomas and Arianna Storey.
Zarianna Burnett went 2-for-3 with a run, and Lyric Williams went 1-for-1 with two runs.
JACKSONVILLE 8, LINCOLN 6: Jaylen Huntley went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run, and Jacksonville (12-13) won in Class 5A, Area 11 play.
Avery Allen went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Sadee Pate-Whitfield went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Dailyn Wood went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Lacey Barnes went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Ana Strain doubled and scored a run.’
Lincoln’s Aubrey Machen went hit a solo home run and scored two runs. Shelby Williams went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
Addison Campbell went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Zoe Korreckt went 2-for-4 with a double, and Maddie Smith had a double and an RBI. Chandler Stephens added a double and a run.
Oglesbey added a double.
The Golden Bears are 25-16–1.
