ALEXANDRIA — Pressley Slaton pitched a four-hitter, and host Alexandria beat White Plains in Saturday’s Class 4A, Area 12 final at Alexandria.

Both teams clinched berths  in the East Regional at Albertville. Regionals run May 5-8.

Earlier Saturday, Alexandria beat Cherokee County 10-0 in the winners’ bracket final. 

White Plains finished off a 16-1 victory over Cleburne County in a game that saw play suspended Friday because of weather, and the Wildcats beat Cherokee County 3-1 in an elimination game to clinch its regional berth.

In Saturday’s area championship game, Slaton struck out nine batters. She also had a double and an RBI.

Cali Hess went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Brenley Sparks added two RBIs. Ryan Lumpkin went 3-for-4.

Slaton pitched a one-hitter with three strikeouts over five innings against Cherokee County. She also hit a three-run home run and finished with four RBIs.

Charlee Parris went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs, and Allyssa Hunt went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI. Sparks singled with two RBIs and a run, and Hess had a double and an RBI.

Kaden Pritchett added a single, a run and an RBI.

WHITE PLAINS: The Wildcats (22-16) clinched their regional berth by finishing off a 16-1 victory over Cleburne County then beating Cherokee County 3-1 on Saturday.

Carli Fritts pitched a one–hitter against Cleburne County, striking out six batters. 

Sara Kate Adams went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Kylee Provencio went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Emma Tidwell finished 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Ella Ponder went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Carleigh Anne Green went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Leighton Arnold went 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBIs.

Karli Otwell had a double and an RBI.

Arnold pitched a complete game against Cherokee County, allowing five hits with six strikeouts, and Adams went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run. Tidwelll went 2-for-3 with a run.,

Otwell homered with three RBIs against Alexandria.

Class 3A, Area 9 softball

RANDOLPH COUNTY 14, WEAVER 7: Gracie Huckeba went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run, and Randolph County beat Weaver 14-7 in Saturday’s area final.

Both teams will advance to the East Regional on May 5-8 at Albertville.

Earlier Saturday, Randolph County edged Weaver 5-4 in the winners’ bracket final. Weaver came back to beat Saks 7-6 in the final elimination game.

In the championship game, Gracie Robinson went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run. Hannah Parmer went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, K Weathers 2-for-5 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs; and Lizzie Milam 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

In the earlier game against Weaver, Parmer went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBIs and three runs. Her two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh walked it off.

Milam had a single and an RBI, and Khloe Yates added an RBI.

Robinson pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits with three strikeouts.

WEAVER: Weaver’s day in the area tournament included a 5-4 loss to Randolph County, a 7-6 win over Saks and a 14-7 loss to Randolph County in the final.

The victory over Saks clinched an East Regional berth for the Bearcats (11-15). The regional is May 5-8 at Albertville.

Anna Shirvinski’s two-run double in the bottom of the 12th inning gave Weaver the walk-off victory. She finished 2-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Maddie Stanford went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Reyleigh Partner went 2-for-4 with a double. Ali Anderson single and scored two runs.

Ashlyn Coleman doubled with two RBIs in the first game against Randolph County. Anderson had a double, a run and an RBI, and Stanford hit a double.

Stevie McGinnins had a single and an RBI, and Promise McLean went 2-for-2 with a run.

Coleman went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run in the championship game, and Stanford went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. McGinnis went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run. Heaven Bishop doubled and scored a run, and Shirvinski hit a double.

SAKS: Ava Snead went 2-for-6 with a home run, a double, two runs and an RBI against Weaver, and Adrianna Stevens went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.

Raina Zackary went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs and pitched 11 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits with 17 strikeouts.

Class 3A, Area 11 softball

OHATCHEE 5, PIEDMONT 4: Gracie Reed’s RBI single in the 12th inning provided the walk-off hit, and Ohatchee staved off Piedmont to reach Monday’s area final.

The Indians (27-10) also clinched a berth in the East Regional, set for May 5-8 at Albertville.

Reed finished 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Mackenzie Luna went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and Reese Steward went had a single and an RBI. 

Savannah Reaves went 2-for-6 with a double and a run, and Alanah Fitch went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs.

Makayla Brackett got the win, spreading out 10 hits with five strikeouts over 12 innings.

GLENCOE: The Yellow Jackets finished off a 5-1 loss to Piedmont in a game that started Friday but was suspended because of weather then beat Westbrook Christian 15-0 and Piedmont 12-2 to clinch a berth in Monday’s area final against Ohatchee.

Glencoe (9-19) also clinched a berth in the East Regional, set for May 5-8 at Albertville.

Kynsley Freeman allowed five hits with four strikeouts in six innings in the second game against Piedmont. She also had a double and an RBI.

Adyson Owens led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs.

Sadie Waldrop went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Evelyn Nowak went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBis and a run.

McKenzi Landers went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Katy Talbot went 2-for-3 with a run.

Freeman allowed no hits with four strikeouts in three innings against Westbrook. 

Isabella Romano lead the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and two runs. Nowak went 3-for-3 with three doubles, three runs and three RBIs. 

Owens went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Caitlin Romano went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Freeman went 2-for-3.

PIEDMONT: The Bulldogs finished off a 5-1 victory over Glencoe from a Friday game suspended because of weather then suffered a 5-4 loss to Ohatchee in a 12-inning, walk-off heartbreaker.

Glencoe then eliminated Piedmont 12-2.

Na’kiya Bothwell went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI in the 5-1 victory over Glencoe. Cayla Brothers went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Cacey Brothers went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Carson Young added a single and an RBI and pitched a complete game, allowing five hits with two strikeouts in seven innings. 

Against Ohatchee, Cayla Brothers went 2-for-6 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Bothwell went 4-for-6 with a triple.

In the 12-2 loss to Glencoe, Cayla Brothers went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Kaelyn Greene had two doubles and scored a run.

Class 5A, Area 11 softball

LINCOLN ADVANCES: The Golden Bears (27-22-1) beat Jacksonville 16-9 to reach the area final then fell to host St. Clair County 4-2.

Lincoln and St. Clair County teams advanced to the East Regional, set for May 5-8 at Albertville.

Chandler Stephens homered twice against Jacksonville, and Lincoln also got a homer apiece from Aubrey Machen and Shelby Williams. Stephens went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs, Machen 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs and Williams 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

Lincoln pounded out 18 hits against Jacksonville. Addison Campbell went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, and Zoe Korrecket went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.

Cameron Pruitt went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Maddie Smith doubled and scored a run. 

Machen hit a solo home run against St. Clair County.

JACKSONVILLE: Dailyn Wood went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, four runs and three RBIs against Lincoln. Lacey Barnes went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, three runs and an RBI, and Raybon Pridgen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Sadie Pate-Whitfield had a singe and two RBIs, and Harper Atchley hit a double.

Jacksonville finished 13–19.

Class 6A, Area 11 softball

PELL CITY 5, OXFORD 1: Charleigh Trotter had a single and an RBI, but Oxford (16-16) fell to host Pell City in the area final.

Both teams advanced to the East Regional, set for May 5-8 at Albertville.

Haleigh Pruitt and Tymeria Smith-Lindsey each went 2-for-3, and Jayla Jackson pitched a complete game, spreading out five hits with three strikeouts over seven innings.
