OHATCHEE — Mackenzie Luna had a team-high two RBIs, and Ohatchee beat Glencoe 5-4 in Monday’s finals of the Class 3A, Area 11 softball tournament at Ohatchee.

Both teams will advance to the East Regional, set for May 5-8 at Albertville.

Luna went 1-for-3 with a double. and Tabi Davidson went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Alanah Fitch went 1-for-3 with two runs, and Makayla Brackett wetn 2-for-2.

Reese Steward went 1-for-3 with a triple.

Brackett pitched a complete game, spreading out six hits, one walk and two earned runs with five strikeouts over seven innings.

Gllencoe’s McKenzi Landers went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kynsley Freeman went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Isabella Romano added a single and an RBI, and Caitlin Romano went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Class 1A, Area 8

WOODLAND ON TOP: The host Bobcats (28-6) swept through the area tournament, beating Winterboro 14-4 and Fayetteville 4-0 before beating Fayetteville 9-0 in the final.

Woodland and Fayetteville will advanced to the East Regional, set for May 5-8 at Albertville.

Railey Williams pitched both shutouts against Fayetteville, allowing seven hits over seven innings in each game. She struck out nine batters in the first game and eight in the finals.

Emma Elsberry led the way at the plate in the finals, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.

Alyssa Taylor went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Kinsley McDaniel went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Lucy Phillips went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs.

Williams went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and K Davidson went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.

Taylor went 1-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI in the first game against Fayetteville. Ella Waites added a double and an RBI, and Lilly Kirby went 2-for-3 with a run.

Allie Puckett struck out 10 Winterboro batters and spread out eight hits over five innings in the first round. Kirby homered and had three RBIs, and Davidson went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs. Phillips went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs, and Taylor added a double, a run and an RBI.

Class 1A, Area 12

SPRING GARDEN: The Panthers (14-11-2) beat Gaylesville 21-0 on Monday and will play Coosa Christian in the winners’ bracket Tuesday.

Addie Word and Kendall Birchfield combined to hold Gaylesville hitless. They struck out two batters apiece in a combined three innings.

Spring Garden had five hits and took advantage of 15 walks. Rylie Ham went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run, and Helena Ingram went 1-for-1 with three runs and two RBIs.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN: The Thunder fell to Coosa Christian 6-5 in nine innings in the first round then beat Gaylesvillle 14-4 to stay alive.

JCA will play the Spring Garden-Coosa Christian loser Tuesday. The winner will advance to the area final and next week’s East Regional.

Addy Lee went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and two runs against Gaylesville. Mollie Mullinax and Cali Sexton had two RBIs apiece,

Symone Estell went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Bryleigh Reid went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

JCA scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to force extra innings against Coosa Christian and led 5-3 going into the bottom of the night, but Coosa Christian scored three runs.

Estell went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Chesson went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Mullinax and Lee each had a double and a run.

Class 2A, Area 13

UPSET: Top-ranked and area host Pleasant Valley will have to win at least one game Tuesday to clinch an East Regional berth and beat Sand Rock twice to win the area tournament.

Sand Rock scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead and beat Pleasant Valley 8-5 in Monday’s winners’ bracket game. Sand Rock advanced to the finals, and Pleasant Valley will play Cedar Bluff in the final elimination game.

The Raiders beat Gaston 10-0 earlier Monday, in the first round. Haylie Lee and A Evans combined to hold Gaston to three hits, with Lee working four innings with six strikeouts to get the win.

Lily Henry went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run, and Aubree Cromer went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Alexa Cranmer went 1-for-1 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Cailey Almaroad went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Henry homered and had two RBIs against Sand Rock, and Almaroad doubled with a run and an RBI.
